Butte County Probation Department 14.11.2020

For the second year in a row, Butte County Probation staff participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, Northern California. The torch was passed to us in downtown Chico from Chief Madden of the Chico Police Department. Probation staff ran from Chico to Oroville, and ended the run at the Oroville Forebay. A huge thank you goes out to Deputy Probation Officer Roxanne Lara for organizing our participation in the run. We are honored to participate in such a great event for a wonderful cause!

On October 31, 2020, officers from the Butte County Probation Department conducted a Halloween detail which focused strictly on Sex Offenders currently on probation or Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). 31 compliance searches were conducted in both North and South Butte County, resulting in 27 Sex Offenders being found in compliance. 4 Sex Offenders were found to be out of compliance. Two were arrested for outstanding warrants, and one was arrested for violating their PRCS terms. Additionally, one offender was taken into custody for new law violations, wherein he possessed 2.5 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Thank you to those officers who participated in this detail and helped to keep our community safe on Halloween.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of swearing in Deputy Probation Officer, Phillip Brooks. He left our department about a year ago and missed us so much that he had to return. Please join us in welcoming back Officer Brooks!
