"Ever since I was a little girl, I had many visions of what my wedding was going to look like. I had the perfect vision, my fiancé in front of me with all of our love ones, fresh flowers all over the place & in my beautiful white dress. A week before the email sent out about having our wedding needing to be postponed, we met up with Sara, the amazing venue manager of THE 101. We talked about what was going to happen the day of, we talked about what else we need to do, even se...t tables on what the day will look like. I even told Sara, I want to be an event planner in the future. I showed her my wedding binder & let me tell you, I blew her socks off. I am a frontline worker, I work at the hospital. When the email got sent out, Ricky immediately texted me, but I didn’t get a chance to read it because I was getting ready to go into an isolation room. When I got out of the room, I read the text message Ricky sent. My heart literally DROPPED on the floor, it sank. It sank because when I read the email, it said events happening May 15, 2020 & before have to be rescheduled. OUR WEDDING DATE is May 15th! After reading the email, I immediately sent an email to Sara. My mind & heart was racing 100+ mph. I asked Sara, what’s our next step? What do we do now? Bless her beautiful big heart, she calmed me down. Sara has so much hope, it’s admirable. Without hesitation, I asked for the ALL possible wedding dates. She emailed me within minutes with the dates. It took Ricky & I a couple of days to figure out our new date. But going back & forth with ALL of our vendors, we finalized & locked our NEW wedding date. "When the news around COVID-19 really started to become bleak, our April 4th wedding was still around six weeks away. It made us nervous but we decided to adopt a 'we'll cross that bridge when we come to it' attitude and hope for the best. It wasn't until the CDC started to recommend limitations on large gatherings and travel that we realized that our wedding might actually be impacted. At that point, our big day was in barely two weeks so it was like being disqualified just ...before crossing the finish line. We were disappointed but, to us, this day wasn't even just about us. Neither of us are Kansas City natives so telling over a hundred family and friends to cancel their travel plans really hurt. Our wedding was supposed to be the start to our family as we're planning to start looking into adoption soon after. "Eric and I got engaged on NYE 2018 and had our venue picked by February 2019. I was one of those brides who planned all the big stuff super early and had most of our wedding planning already finished and then COVID-19 hit. Eric and I had been watching the news starting early March and hoping and praying that our April 24 wedding would still happen as planned. As things worsened and the CDC recommended no more than 10 people at an event, we knew we had no choice. I have to ad...mit coming to the realization that we had to postpone, I was very sad, upset, frustrated. I had waited a long time in my life for this perfect day and all of our planning was done. The more I thought about it and sent email after email to our amazing coordinator Andrea, I felt this was ultimately the right and best decision for us. I’m a registered nurse and I took an oath to help people and save lives and this ultimately was keeping our friends and family safe and healthy. It was an emotionally very very difficult choice but necessary. Once we rescheduled, what I felt immediately was relief. We knew that what truly mattered was us and we had each other to weather these crazy times. We got through these difficult times by our incredible family and friends who messaged us everyday checking in and were truly amazing at rescheduling their lives. Our venue, vendors have all been such a breeze working to reschedule. They all have said whatever you need you got it. So rescheduling for us was actually very easy. My advice for other couples going through this, is you are not alone in any of this. Take your moment and several days to grieve the loss of one of your most important days but know your day will come. It will be beautiful, it will be worth the wait and everyone will be there ready to create the most epic celebration. So hang in there, breathe, and remember you have found your person and have them to get you through these crazy times." -Karen & Eric

My fiance and I had to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19. We couldn't really wrap our head around the fact that our April wedding was just canceled. Rescheduling just wasn't an option. After some much needed wine, we sat down together and came to the decision as a couple that we still really wanted our wedding to happen. Thankfully, the staff at BRICK has made this transition as seamless as possible. We had a new date the same week we found out we needed to postpone! I wi...ll be honest, our dream wedding would not be able to go on the way we planned if our vendors were not available to make the switch with us. EVERY SINGLE ONE was willing to be there for us on our rescheduled date. To me, this has been the most amazing part in all of this craziness! We all know how difficult it can be to book your dream photographer, florist, caterer etc. and for them to be available to us a second time just blows my mind. As cheesy as it sounds, LOVE is the reason we decided to spend the rest of our lives together and plan the wedding of our dreams in the first place! Sure, the date has changed and truth is it may change again. No matter what happens or when we have our wedding, we know that we love each other and at the end of the day, what more could you ask for? Cheers to our NEW day, July 10th, 2020! We both decided to keep the day off of work for what would have been our wedding day. We feel such a strong attachment to the day itself that we still want to make it ours and celebrate however we can! I've put together the Spring wedding of my dreams, and since we both work on weddings and events every week, the process has been a breeze. Cue the events of the last week - none of which any of us could have ever anticipated. We had a Plan A, B,... and even a C, but never imagined that a global pandemic would force us rethink all of our planned scenarios. I honestly didn't think of it impacting me as I was helping our brides come to terms with their own dates, but as soon as Jared looked to me and said, 'We have to think about our own wedding,' my heart stopped. Suddenly, I was thrust into the same heartbreak all of my brides were facing and having to make my own decisions about our day. All of our options flooded me like the uncertain wave of this pandemic, and I won't lie and say that I wasn't confused and incredibly sad. I had to put aside my planner mind and think about me and us. I asked Jared what he cared about most, and his words changed everything. 'I already feel married to you. I want to share that love in front of people. I want to say my vows to our whole world and share that with our family and friends there.' I knew then, the best thing we could do is focus on celebrating this with the people who care and support us. The date would change. We are now planning the Fall wedding of my dreams. When this all passes, we will have our family and friends with us as we share our love. We now look forward to our April date being a day to celebrate our relationship, committed to solving tough decisions all the days of our lives together."
