Thank you to Bristol Myers Squibb, which will serve as the lead sponsor of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programming for the 2020-21 year, investing $25,000 in our after-school and summer STEM classes, events, and career exploration! Bristol Myers Squibb is a leading global biopharma company focused on discovering, developing and delivering innovative medicines for patients with serious diseases. The company has a presence in the Bay Area with Research ...& Early Development sites in San Francisco and Redwood City. The Bristol Myers Squibb team is focused on helping millions of patients around the world in disease areas such as oncology, hematology, immunology, cardiovascular and neuroscience. Through the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the company supports community-based programs that promote cancer awareness, screening, care and support among high-risk populations in the United States, as well as China, Brazil and sub-Saharan Africa. Employees around the world work every day to transform patients’ lives through science. Through this partnership, we'll ensure hard-working students in San Francisco have the inspiration and support to pursue careers in the STEM field. Our thanks again!
Para toda familia en SFUSD!
Last week, George Floyd joined the long list of Black Americans killed in racist attacks. We express our grief that another Black life was taken by the police, and our outrage that these killings continue. For too long, Black people have been killed by citizens of our own country, often members of our own government, while others looked aside. Not only are Black lives threatened by violence, but the COVID-19 crisis has underscored the health disparities affecting Black commun...ities, on top of economic disparities, educational disparities, and more. We salute the protestors, across the U.S. and across the globe, who are putting their lives on the line to oppose police brutality and stand up for racial justice. We salute everyone who is speaking out. We use this moment to recommit ourselves to doing the same. We affirm the value of Black lives and the limitless worth of Black people. As educators, we recommit ourselves to nurturing and supporting our Black students to achieve their enormous potential. We recommit ourselves to a curriculum that reflects their stories and teachers and staff who reflect their identities. We recommit ourselves to deepening our own understanding of social justice issues. And we recommit ourselves to combating oppression in every form.

#GivingTuesday is here and Breakthrough SF students need your support. Researchers project that students could lose nearly half, or even ALL of the achievement growth expected in a normal academic year. Breakthrough is working hard to ensure our students stay on track. NOW IS THE TIME TO STEP UP FOR BREAKTHROUGH STUDENTS! #BreakthroughImpactFund https://give.breakthroughcollaborative.org/team/294953
