Welcome Shawn - guitar/bass teacher Shawn started his musical education from age 9 and plays piano in addition to many guitar-related instruments including pedal steel and mandolin. He has participated in many music festivals, including the Reno Jazz and the Carson City Jazz Festivals, and enjoys jazz improvisation, blues, and rock. Shawn also performed for Vice President Joe Biden at a speech at UNC Asheville. He received his BA from the University of No. Carolina and his Masters degree in jazz and improvisation at the Univ. of Nevada. Most Favorite Music: Rock, Jazz, Blues, Improvisational music Personal: Nothing in music is hard, just unfamiliar. Kenny Werner

Welcome Dylan, our new drum teacher. Dylan has been playing drums and percussion for over 15 years. He currently works as a freelance drummer in Los Angeles. Prior to that, he worked as a cruise ship musician for Carnival Cruise lines and also performed in theater playhouses and other groups. He graduated in percussion performance from Baldwin Wallace University (OH). His professional experience includes orchestral, jazz, musical theater, and pop/rock music. Dylan has over 7 years of teaching experience both privately and within a school band program.

Welcome Tyler (vocals and piano) and Kate (piano) on our teaching staff. Tyler started piano at the age of 5 and has sung all her life. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a BA in music. She has over 20 years of experience as a private and group voice and piano teacher. Tyler was also a choir director and musical theater director and pianist for a children’s theater. Her vocal experience includes work as a studio singer for major motion pictures and independents.... She sang with Los Angeles Master Chorale for 9 years. Kate started piano at the age of 6. She played with the Dan Kook orchestra (Korea), and Kansas Univ symphony orchestra. She also played as a member of Orenunn contemporary music trio in NJ, Seoul, and Bangkok. Kate was active in numerous master classes and music festivals, such as Aspen, Chautauqua, and summer music schools in France. She holds a DMA at Univ of Kansas and MM at Univ Missouri-Kansas. Kate is a member of MTAC.

Mindia joins our teaching staff - Vocals and Cello Mindia is an artist who sings and plays the cello simultaneously. Mindia started classical piano education at the age of 3, and cello education at the age of 6. She attended Berklee College of Music, where she studied composition, vocal and cello performance. Mandy on clarinet/saxophone and other band instruments. Please welcome Mandy to our teaching staff. She began playing clarinet in the 5th grade and early on in high school, she knew she wanted to be a band director. Mandy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BA in Music Education, and has extensive experience in both woodwinds and brass.
