We are grateful to Reynaldo Garcia for his dedication to the Mount Sinai family for 40 years! He began in 1981 and has been an integral part of our team ever since as a mechanic. He can fix anything from our lawn mowers to tractors which are very important in maintaining the integrity and beauty of the Parks. Mount Sinai has been a major part of my life for a very long time, 40 years, and allows me to take care of my family and home which I am grateful for. I work with great people.
Many of our park visitors show their respects by leaving flowers by the grave as a sign of their visit and for various occasions such as birthdays, holidays, anniversaries and Mother’s and Father’s Day. Mount Sinai Memorial Parks is home to an on-site flower shop, Kreations by Karla, to assist with all of your floral needs. Please call 323-769-1338 or visit our website for more information. https://mountsinaiparks.org/flowers/
Today, 7 Adar on the Jewish Calendar, marks a significant day in Jewish history- it is the anniversary of both the birth and the passing of Moses, the leader of the Exodus. The Chevra Kadisha, the Jewish burial society, observes customs in honor of this day. Check out this interesting article 7 Adar: From Fasting to Feasting, by Elisha Greenbaum, to learn more about these customs and why they are practiced. https://www.chabad.org//7-Adar-From-Fasting-to-Feasting.htm Shabb...at Shalom from our family to yours. This week’s @MountSinaiSpotlight features our newest member of the Mount Sinai Team, Olivia Sichmeller. Olivia will be focusing on Family Engagement and supporting Advance Planning. I am so grateful to be working with people who take such care and pride in their work and look forward to serving our community.
Last Friday, the Mount Sinai family celebrated Valentine’s Day with a socially distanced staff appreciation lunch. We are grateful for these moments and for each other. With everything that has happened in the past year, we have developed a deeper appreciation for these moments. #WeAreMountSinai #FrontlineOfCompassion
Whether you've lost a loved one or are simply paying a shiva visit, these words and phrases are helpful to know. Have a question about Jewish mourning traditions? Let us know below.
In death, as in life, Ruth Bader Ginsburg cherished two identities being an American and being a Jew even when they failed to easily harmonize. Her Jewish funeral and Arlington National Cemetery burial speak to her quest to balance these two identities.

Rabbi Sharon Brous joined religious leaders on the Today Show to discuss faith, perseverance and resilience during the pandemic. "People in this country and around the world right now are experiencing a profound sense of loneliness, powerlessness, disconnection, fear, and uncertainty for the future and there has never been a successful movement for social change without song, dance, and laughter. That is why we made sure to include all of these elements as part of our high holy day experience this year." Watch the segment here.

Dedicated to serving the entire community, Mount Sinai Simi Valley offers the full spectrum of Jewish funeral services in a magnificent and inspiring setting. Take a video tour of our beautiful park located just outside Los Angeles. Like its sister property Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, our property in Simi Valley offers a place of rest, comfort and peace. The entire park was designed to be reminiscent of Israel with rolling hillsides, wide open spaces and modern buildings constructed from Jerusalem stone.
We are proud to spotlight our Human Resources Coordinator, Brenda Johnson. Brenda joined the Mount Sinai team 41 years ago as has been an integral part of our family ever since. She began her career at Mount Sinai as a cashier, then moved to the accounting department, and has worked in human resources for the last 20 years. When asked why she has stayed for so long, Brenda said, Mount Sinai is a family and I’ve developed life-long relationships with my fellow staff members who are like family to me. #MountSinaiSpotlight #WeAreMountSinai
Mount Sinai is honored to be the sole Jewish cemetery in Los Angeles that offers families the opportunity to construct a custom family memorial, known as Sukkot Shalom Canopy of Peace located at Mount Sinai Simi Valley. Our private family mausoleum section, accessed by the aptly named Jerusalem Road, is surrounded by a series of lush gardens and beautiful trees offering dramatic views of the entire park. All of the mausoleums overlook a protected public nature reserve which ensures that the stunning surrounding view will never change.
Wishing our community a joyous Simchat Torah. Our Blessings Mosaic on display at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, celebrates the blessings central to our tradition, highlighting Simchat Torah with a beautiful Torah scroll enfolded in a tallit.
