Dear Friends of the Arts, The Brandon-Mitchell Gallery has recently been in discussions with First Arts and have been granted their blessing to re-instate the Marjorie Brandon Award. Carole Firstman and Aaron Collins were the cofounders of First Arts and the Marjorie Brandon Award was their brainchild. In the history of the award, the only two recipients have been Marjorie, herself and Irene Morse. Because the Brandon-Mitchell Gallery is named in part for Marjorie and her ama...zing legacy of art in our area, we are planning to bring back the award as an annual tribute to local artists, to be presented at the Brandon-Mitchell Gallery Gala on Saturday, September 29, 2018 . We are looking for nominations from the arts community. The Marjorie Brandon Award will honor an individual from our area who has made outstanding contributions to the arts in any discipline. The winning nominee will be an individual who is involved in fine arts rather than crafts, with emphasis on timelessness rather than trendiness. It will be presented for real artistic achievement and not for personal popularity or sentiment. If you or your organization would like to make a nomination, please fill out the attached nomination form and email or mail it by August 31 to [email protected] or to Artistic Director, Brandon-Mitchell Gallery, 117 S Locust, Visalia, CA 93291. The award will be presented at the Brandon-Mitchell Gallery Gala on September 29, 2018. The Gala will be held at 300 S. Court Street in the Marriott Hotel. For ticket information please go to www.BrandonMitchellGallery.com. In service to the Arts, Donna Orozco Artistic Director Brandon-Mitchell Gallery Nomination Form for the Marjorie Brandon Award 2018 should include the name of nominee, the nominee’s art form and why this should person be considered for this award?
