Operation Santa is heading to a neighborhood near you! Save the date for Wednesday, December 23rd, starting at 5:30pm. Santa Claus will be visiting the Bishop area during Operation Santa. He won't be in his sleigh or with his reindeer. Instead, Bishop Police Officers, Inyo County Sheriff’s Deputies and Bishop Fire Fighters will escort Santa through the streets of Bishop for a quick tour of our communities and spread holiday cheer before he returns to the North Pole! 2020 Op...eration Santa Map - Coming Soon! If we aren’t visiting your neighborhood this season feel free to stop along the route to wave hello as Santa makes his way through the area and back to the North Pole!

Last night at about 11 pm, a local 20-year-old man lost control of the vehicle he was driving, crashing it into a parked car and residence on the 300 block of Clarke St. The driver had to be extricated. He and his adult passenger were transported to the hospital and admitted for various non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol and marijuana were found inside the suspect vehicle. No one inside the residence was injured. The DUI/collision investigation is ongoing. Should you have any information about this event, please contact the Bishop Police Department at (760) 873-5866.

School Resource Officer (SRO) Brady Peek: Brady has worked for BPD since 2012. He was selected earlier this year as the SRO by various stakeholders, who reported being impressed by his preparation and enthusiasm for this new grant funded position. Brady has been assisting the schools between patrol duties while patiently waiting for his replacement on patrol. That new Police Officer is Neil O’Brien, who started Monday. Neil began his career with the City of Kingsburg as... a Reserve Police Officer and then in 2018 moved to a full-time position with the Parlier Police Department, both agencies located in Fresno County. Neil has experience as a SRO, which should come in handy since our program is just getting started. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 from CSU Long Beach and he speaks Spanish, as well. During the extensive pre-employment background check, people described Neal as being pleasant, thoughtful, and as a solid patrol officer. Neal will have several weeks of training and observation. Since he’s already experienced, he should fly right through this process and be on patrol on his own very soon. See more
