Journey & Mosaic returned last night over zoom to explore Christ's call for Peter to walk on water. We shared the ways God calls us to step out onto the water, what buoys are there for us, and the challenges we encounter following God's call.

REGISTER FOR THIS SUNDAY - We invite all middle and high school youth to join Youth's Ministry's socially distanced, in-person Pumpkin Palooza! Come to practice the art of pumpkin carving and for general fun. Safety is our #1 priority, and so preregistration will be required to attend. To accommodate more youth, there will be two events: one at 6:00pm and one at 7:15pm. All participants will be required to wear masks, undergo a temperature check at the beginning of the event,... and stay six feet apart. We'll provide the medium size pumpkins, but we ask that you bring your own carving tools. Last night at Journey & Mosaic, youth reflected on the ways they can experience God's presence, and ultimately reminded themselves (and all of us) that we are not alone. A few gave us permission to share pictures of their brainstorming!

LAUMC youth put their building skills to the test on Sunday as they put together skateboards for kids in the foster program, a Compassion Week activity.

Tonight our youth were in two locations connected through zoom with other youth groups as we created encouraging cards that are a small part of street survival kits for homeless LGBTQ youth. The streets of California currently house the largest population of unaccompanied homeless youth in the country. The seeds organization that we are supporting works to help kids survive homelessness, connect to the services they need to move off the street and heal. Last night at Journey & Mosaic, youth reflected on Paul's words in Romans 8:12-25, then created images that encourage people to live the way God would want them to in their relationships with others and creation. Check out a few from our Journey youth!

The LAUMC youth put together a baby gift for our Journey Counselors, Nadine and Dylan, who recently welcomed their first child, Henry. Here's a special thank you from them: "Hello LAUMC Youth! We are so thankful for the special notes and ABC book that Henry will cherish forever. We are so glad he can see your shining faces through this book, and we can’t wait for him to meet you all in person when this pandemic ends. Henry is so lucky to have such cool people to look up to. Last night the youth ended our summer programming by reflecting on what they've learned this year. We read a story about a wise old turtle, and talked about the year. They made collages, poems, sketches, journaled, and other creative outlets in their reflections. Check out this sketch by one of our counselors, Tim! "I was mostly using the time while sketching to reflect and think about things I was grateful for during this time, and ways I can be more like the turtle - especially how I could be more patient..."
