Foils are used for a number of things to get the color you want. Not only does it separate so that the sections needed get the dye or bleach, it can also act as a heat conductor to help speed up the process. Also, the lightener or bleach would dry out very quickly if it wasn’t wrapped in foil!... This helps keep the products we use moist - when bleach dries up it is 100% ineffective!!
