Welcome to a special sneak peek and behind-the-scenes look at Ballet Etudes production of The Nutcracker: a Pandemic Tale. Don’t miss this beautiful Holiday Tradition with a new twist! Tickets are available now at https://www.balletproject.tv/ven/ballet-etudes-marketplace/ ChaRacTEr SpOtLiGhT!! Our spotlight today is on the fabulous Jeslyn Russell, who will perform the role of the Snow Queen, Spanish Princess and Mrs. Stahlbaum in The Nutcracker: a Pandemic Tale. Jeslyn is 1...7 years old and is a Senior Company Member for Ballet Etudes. We sat down with Jeslyn (at a safe distance of course) to find out how she fared during quarantine and how she feels about being able to dance in the studio again. Ballet Etudes: What did you miss most during Quarantine? Jeslyn: Dancing with all of my friends and going to Disneyland. BE: What do you think your character would have spent their time doing during the quarantine? JR: Probably having a snowball fight or making snow angels. And my other character probably was making chocolate sweets every day. BE: What new hobbies did you take up during Quarantine? JR: I started drawing a lot more and I did a lot of improv in my garage to make me happier during this time. BE: What did you learn about yourself and family during this time? JR: I learned that my mom chews really loud but it’s ok because she feeds me and keeps me alive. My dad is always down for an adventure. And my sister still loves to dance with me as much as I love dancing with her. BE: Be honest. How much Netflix did you watch during the first few weeks of Quarantine? JR: I finished three shows, so a lot. BE: You can have 5 characters from the Nutcracker join you in lockdown. Who are they and why? JR: Spanish because she would bring life to an otherwise melancholy time. Candy cane to bring us joy. Drosselmeyer to tell us stories when we get bored. The Jester to make us laugh. And Mother Ginger to feed us and keep us alive. Don’t forget to buy your tickets today to watch Jeslyn perform as the Snow Queen, Spanish Princess and Mrs. Stahlbaum this December. #balletetudeshb #Nutcracker #dancers #dance #ballet @had4dance

ChaRacTEr SpOtLiGhT!! Our spotlight today is on none other than Lyla Davey, who will perform the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Maid in The Nutcracker: a Pandemic Tale. Lyla is 16 years old and is a Senior Company Member for Ballet Etudes. We sat down with Lyla (at a safe distance of course) to find out how she fared during quarantine and how she feels about being able to dance in the studio again.... Ballet Etudes: What did you miss most during Quarantine? Lyla: I missed having space to dance and being able to do movement full out without hitting the ceiling fan. I also missed seeing my friends in person. BE: What do you think your character would have spent their time doing during the quarantine? LD: Sugar Plum would have kept things sweet and positive by staying in contact with all her sugary friends and dancing in her kingdom. BE: Did you take any virtual classes during Quarantine? If yes, where? LD: In addition to the HAD zoom classes, I took some Pilates classes virtually online with HBPilates. I am so thankful that teachers and the studio was able to adapt so well to being online. Although Zoom classes can be frustrating and aren't even remotely close to what dancing in the studio is like, I don't think I would have made it through quarantine without them. BE: You can have 5 characters from the Nutcracker join you in lockdown. Who are they and why? LD: If I could have 5 characters from the Nutcracker join me in lockdown, I would definitely take the maid so that she could keep things nice and tidy. I would also take the baker because she makes the BEST chocolate cake. Drosselmeyer would also be welcome because he would keep things interesting with his magic tricks and dolls. To keep everyone's energy up while in quarantine I would take the Candy-cane Lead because she is so energetic and pumped with joy. Lastly, I would have Spanish join me, just to keep things spicy. Don’t forget to buy your tickets today to watch Lyla perform as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Maid this December. #balletetudeshb #Nutcracker #dancers #dance #ballet @had4dance
