Today is National Stress Awareness Day. Take this moment to relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and breathe deep. We tend to hold stress in ways we don’t even notice, and when stress is continuous, it actually begins to change your brain:

In a time when news, updates, death rates, and panic are in the air and on the TV more than ever it is important to remember our kids are absorbing everything as well, only with less ability to process. How amazing would it be if we could use this horrible situation as a way to help our kids learn how to manage their emotions and inner world, emerging as a generation prepared to handle whatever life has for them! All of us here at Journeys Counseling are available throughout this Coronavirus crisis either in person or over the phone/video conferencing. If you have any questions or needs don't hesitate to reach out. 310.933.4475 or through our website journeyscounseling.com
Good morning, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well as we move into another week of these uncharted times. I wanted to update you on what we are doing here at Journeys Counseling regarding appointments during the Safer at Home Order. As per the order we are consider an Essential Service meaning all of our therapists are still available to continue ongoing sessions as well as taking on new clients in this needed time. Now, more than ever it is important to stay ...physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy and connected. Just because there is a social distance order does not mean we should be relationally and emotionally isolated. With that being said, we are encouraging anyone who feels comfortable continuing sessions via Telehealth (phone/video) to do so, doing our best to limit potential exposure and unknown transmission. If it is clinically important for a client to continue attending sessions in person please know we are taking every precaution to maintain the appropriate physical distance and are diligently cleaning all common surfaces and regularly used items. We are also asking that instead of using our waiting room, the that clients text their therapist when they arrive, and then wait in their car until they are replied to with an all clear, to avoid people waiting in closer proximity as they typically would. I know this is an overwhelming time for all of us, and a time where isolation and fear are our biggest enemy. We will continue to be here for our current clients, as well as anyone else who is in need while we all weather this storm together. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at all of if you would like to be connected with one of our therapists. We are all doing our best to lean into God’s promises and bring comfort and care to all of our community on person at a time. Take care and stay well!
Isolation and shame are our worst enemies. Check out this quick and candid interview with someone who has found freedom and healing through authenticity and humor! If you identify with what Kristen Bell is talking about and have questions don't hesitate to reach out to us, we would love to help! 310.933.4475
Our own Chris Ioimo was recently honored to join Meygan Caston of Marriage365 and Jessica Patay of @WeAreBraveTogether on the most recent episode of "Kitchen Chats: Marriage"
