Did you know ASC partners with local agencies to provide quality support services for seniors? This week we would like to thank Eskaton for offering their Telephone Reassurance Program to all seniors for FREE! The FREE service they offer that connects older adults with a friendly phone call from a volunteer in the community. Volunteers are matched with older adult participants based on interests and primary spoken language. Eskaton has found this program to be extremely benef...icial to older adults in the community who face loneliness and isolation, especially in the last year. Participants can sign up for as many phone calls week as they like, and are also able to opt in for well-checks that inform an emergency contact if we have not heard from the participant in a given amount of time. Eskaton would love to enhance the lives of older adults with Auburn Senior Center. I have included a flyer in this email with more information, as well as linked our website above. Did you know the Auburn Senior Center has been keeping seniors active for 40 years? Here's a little bit of our history: The Auburn Senior Center was created by a group of determined seniors, headed by William Bill Burback. Bill felt that seniors needed a place where they could come and keep out of a rocking chair. His dreams inspired all his friends; together they set out to accomplish this goal. Through lots of determination and commitment they achieved the impossible crea...ting a space at Dewitt Center. The Center doors opened in October of 1980, and for 36 years the Dewitt Center was their home. In mid-2016 the Center was asked to leave Dewitt Center and is currently housed in an office building in downtown Auburn. Today the center has over 900 members from three counties: Placer, El Dorado and Nevada. Nearly half are active in daily activities including volunteering at the Center. #HelpASCReOpen #AuburnSeniorCenter #SucessfulAging
