My Center Story started when I very first moved to San Diego from Toronto over 15 years ago. In my very early days in a new city, I learned of the Sunburst Youth Project and was so inspired by the creativity and passion of The Center in creating youth-centered housing that was groundbreaking for our community, as well as in the country. This first experience with The Center demonstrated the incredible work The Center does for so many in the community... The services, supports, and programs that The Center offers are so critical, and that is why I am a longtime Center supporter! Help assure that we’re able to continue to serve our community, to help, visit -> Donate.thecentersd.org/YourCenter

On #IntersexAwarenessDay The Center stands with intersex people, including our trans intersex siblings, who face discrimination simply because of their identities and bodies. Check out @interact_adv (Advocates for Intersex Youth) for more information on what it means to be intersex and ways that allies can support Intersex Awareness Day. This includes changing the vocabulary that you use to describe people’s bodies, learning about the history of Intersex Awareness Day and bodily autonomy, and much more https://interactadvocates.org/.

Today, The Center uplifts the historic remarks of Pope Francis and his support for civil unions for same-sex couples. As the highest profile member of the Catholic Church, his leadership and views have the power to change hearts and minds of families across the world, and we acknowledge his words and this shift, with respect and gratitude. The Center will continue its work to advocate for equal rights and treatment for the entire LGBTQ community.

Today The Center celebrates #InternationalPronounsDay! This day seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace. Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity. Being referred to by the wrong pronouns particularly affects transgender and gender nonconforming people. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities. For more information about transgender and nonbinary services at The Center, please visit our website: https://thecentersd.org/programs/transgender-services/
