In the upcoming semester, members from Asha for Education will be leading a decal called Images of India in which a range of topics from poverty to women’s rights will be discussed and how they are affecting modern day India. It is a great decal to learn about India from a political, societal, and cultural aspect. If you are interested please fill out the form provided in the flyer and we hope to see many of you very soon!

Come join us for our very first panel series: South Asian Allyship (Privilege & Positionality) hosted by ASUC Shah, Indian Students Association, and Asha for Education!! As a privileged community of color, South Asians hold a unique position in the racial and ethnic fabric of the U.S. Given the recent state-sanctioned violence perpetrated against the Black community, it is time South Asians confront their own position as a privileged community of color, leverage that privileg...e, and show up as non-performative allies for Black folk and other marginalized groups. In this panel, we aim to equip our peers with the necessary drive and tools to facilitate community engagement that uplifts BIPOC and also aims to help our peers understand and confront the ways in which the diaspora continue to perpetuate normative views of caste and color within our communities. Register here get access to our zoom link (please use your Berkeley email): https://berkeley.zoom.us//tJEuf-qqqzojHtaANFHaVr18OoxHv69D Our Speakers: - Jean Park: Community Engagement Director at Asian American Justice + Innovation Lab (AAJIL) - Garima Raheja: South Asians for Black Lives Volunteer and Activist - Sirianna Arathi: Tamil Queer Educator, Opposition Research/Organizing for the Democratic Party - Dr. Ayesha Khan: Infectious Diseases Ph.D. and grassroots organizer - Seema Hari: SWE, Model, writer for Medium (focuses on colorism) - Lakshmi Sridharan: Executive Director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) We will introduce our speakers more leading to the panel day, and we hope you get some time to read through their backgrounds!
