Here are some Halloween ideas from California PTA:

Ardenwood Elementary School 15.12.2020

https://youtu.be/9It8Ih-ac0I Thank you all for participating in PTA’s October community engagement activity! I really enjoyed going through everyone’s pumpkin designs and seeing what amazing artists we have at the school. Your children are so talented! I have already notified the raffle winners, but I wanted to hand out something to EVERYONE that participated. So, this Monday (November 2) from 9am - 3pm I will have a small Halloween goodie bag for ALL students who partic...ipated to pick up. This time around I’m not attaching individual names to each goodie bag, we’ll just go on the honor code and hope people only pick up if they had a participant in this challenge and only one goodie bag per student submission. All items will be laid inside the school gates near where teachers put out work for students to drop off and pick up. Email me at [email protected] if you have any trouble finding your student’s prize. We hope to see your students’ names again for our next community engagement activity! Note I will only be setting these out on Monday ONLY as I have to pick them up each day to make sure they don’t fall victim to the weather. If you cannot pick them up on Monday, email me and I’ll coordinate a different drop off for you and your child. Also, a note that these goody bags have a few candy treats in them (all nut-free) since they’re for Halloween. If you would prefer not to pick one up for your child, we understand! Happy Halloween! Ellen Tillman PTA President

July 17, 2020 Today, Governor Gavin Newsom laid out his plan for schools across California to physically open or close as the 2020-21 school year approaches. This plan centers on local data and existing metrics to determine if our students and staff can return to classrooms for a new school year. The Governor’s plan and the California Department of Public Health’s updated guidance offer some much-needed clarity for our communities and aid our educational leaders in their deci...sion-making as the 2020-21 school year begins. Until Alameda County is off the State Monitoring List for 14 consecutive days, all Alameda County schools may only provide distance learning to their students. https://mailchi.mp//alameda-county-education-public-health

Ardenwood Elementary School 12.08.2020

The FUSD board decided last week to start the 2020-21 school year under a distance learning model. The board also provided direction that distance learning would remain in place based on the following: Alameda County has seen no new cases for 7 days; Reevaluate at that time and hold a new discussion; Propose exemptions to the distance learning model were asked to be brought before the board for approval.... The board’s ultimate goal is to return students to campus and continue their work in the classroom. Unfortunately, at this time we do not feel this can be done in a manner that provides an appropriate level of safety for students, teachers and staff. We will spend this time leading up to the start of the school year identifying resources and services to assist families as we move forward. https://fusd-ca.schoolloop.com/pf4/cms2/news_themed_display

2020-2021 School Learning Options Please Provide Feedback by 7/8: FUSD has posted their recommendations for school opening in 2020-2021. It's 14.4 on the agenda for the Wednesday, July 8, 2020 school board meeting. Staff is recommending a hybrid model and 14.3 on the agenda is to reinstate the custodial staff that had been laid off. ... There are 2 different proposals for how to do hybrid - details at this link: http://go.boarddocs.com/ca/fremont/Board.nsf/goto The first hybrid option has students in 3 cohorts with each cohort going to school 1 day a week. The other option has students divided into 3 cohorts where 2 cohorts attend school 2 days a week and 1 cohort does full distance learning. If you wish to voice opinions/concerns about the proposals, FUSD will be accepting public comments till 3pm on July 8, 2020 at this link: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSeAsu603Om7Mw6FhF/viewform

OFFICERS INCREASE PATROLS AT FREMONT SCHOOLS Officers have increased patrols at Fremont schools after criminal groups continue to target the empty campuses. Ov...er the last several weeks, Officers have arrested three separate groups for various crimes on these campuses. We are asking for area residents to continue reporting any suspicious activity that they may see at these schools. This includes people on campus in the middle of the night, subjects using flashlights, sounds of broken glass or forced entry, as well as any sounding alarms. Despite the new Judicial Council of California orders to cite and release the majority of "low-level" offenders, our officers will continue to enforce all laws and protect our community. In response to these orders effect on our ability to fight crime, one of our Patrol Watch Commanders (Lt. Eric Tang) told his shift: "We'll arrest these suspects 5 times a day in order to keep our community safe if we need to."

Even for adults, it can be tough to recognize that what we feel as irritability, difficulty focusing, insomnia or changes in appetite can actually be signs that... our bodies are feeling the effects of stress. For kids, no matter the age, their brains and bodies are even more vulnerable to the harmful effects of stress than adults, and most often, they aren’t able recognize or verbalize it. Stress in kids may show up differently than stress in adults does. To help parents and caregivers manage stress related to COVID-19, the California Surgeon General has published a guide to help you understand what to look out for and what you can do to protect your family’s health. The guide includes information about: o Keeping an eye out for stress in kids. o Planning tools to reduce stress for kids. o Strategies for stress reduction. You can access the California Surgeon General’s Playbook: Stress Relief for Caregivers and Kids during COVID-19 by visiting https://go.usa.gov/xvKAH See more

A friendly reminder to please observe our volunteer crossing guards and STOP when they have their STOP SIGNS raised. Today, a parent driven car drove through the crosswalk while our parent volunteer crossing guard was helping students cross the street. Luckily, no one was injured, thanks to our quick thinking crossing guard. Please STOP when requested so that all students can arrive to school safely. Please allocate enough time to drive slowly and safely to drop your student(...s) off at school, and park only in designated parking spots to drop your student(s) off, not in the the middle of the street or our neighbors driveways. Thank you!
