Yesterday we posted a poll in our stories posing this question. 100% of our followers agreed: It's better to be in no relationship at all than to be in a toxic relationship. But, getting out of a toxic relationship can be difficult and it's usually not as easy as just ending it. Understanding the underlying dynamics, why you were in it in the first place, and what made it hard to leave are important lessons for your growth and development as a human being. Therapy is a pla...ce to uncover, discover, and explore these things. Contact us if you're in a toxic relationship and not sure what to do. Drop your comments & questions below - we want to hear your thoughts on this topic! . . . . #toxicrelationships #toxicpeople #breakup #relationship #narcissist #narcissisticabuse #mondaymotivation #mondaymood #marriageadvice See more

Do you ever notice feeling different parts of you that are polarized or reactive? Thinking and acting differently in various situations? It’s common to experience different parts of our psyches and personalities. Some people refer to these as parts, structures, subpersonalities, complexes, or internal characters. You might experience inner voices or distinct patterns of feelings and behavior. These patterns are influenced by our biology, early childhood, family, life experi...ences, social and cultural norms, and collective (mythic) elements. For example, most of us have experienced an inner critic or judge and an inner child. These parts of us like bundles of dispositions, feelings/emotions, experiences, and behaviors can operate in a system, influencing how we go about our daily lives and react amidststress. It’s common for us to identify with one or some part while suppressing others, often unconsciously, in order to get by and be accepted in society and family, or to protect ourselves and survive in traumatic situations. Social, cultural, and family dynamics impact what feelings and qualities we perceive are allowed and valued, and those that seem unacceptable (for example, vulnerability) and thus are denied conscious expression. Our different parts can help us out in various situations in life we need to be able to adapt and bring forth multiple aspects of ourselves flexibly in relationships and work. Yet our internal dynamics can become tense and conflicted, locked into rigid patterns, which can lead to symptoms. Therapy involves awareness of one’s inner landscape and may help you get in touch with, embody, and express multiple parts of yourself carrying various emotions and memories, so that repetitive, unconscious reactions no longer have such a tight grip. When various parts of your psyche are brought forth from the shadow or unconscious, you can understand how they developed, what roles you tend to embody, and how they are playing out in your life. Compassion and acceptance can transform how these parts show up in your inner world and in your relationships, and cultivating a space within you in wh

Check out this great event from our friends @levelground.co We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that will be back for round two THIS SATURDAY, September 5and this time, we’re doing it LIVE! Developed by Level Ground Collective artists @kevin_hallagan_art and @leslie_muse, #artat6ft is an ongoing series of socially distanced, pop-up art exhibitions. The project brings artists from across LA to find a space for creativity and expression in the mid...st of uncertain times. All artists not only observe physical distancing guidelines but use them as an element of their work, exploring both the limitations and new opportunities provided by the circumstances in which we all find ourselves. The first pop-up exhibition was held last March, shortly after California’s stay-at-home orders first went into place. In partnership with @maiden.la, this Saturday’s exhibition will be broadcast right here on our profile through #InstagramLive! Throughout the day, 11 different artists from a variety of mediums and backgrounds will be creating and presenting new and exciting performances and artworkin real time!Make sure to swipe for the schedule of events, and set a reminder in your phone because you won’t want to miss this!
