"Finding the Film Archive: A Comparison between Milan and Canberra in Times of COVID-19" By Victoria Duckett The Moving Image 19.2 (2019): 96-99 https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5749/movingimage.19.2.0096... This introduction compares the response of two separate and very different international film archives during a period when the coronavirus began to spread globally in early 2020. Through Zoom interviews with Matteo Pavesi, the Director of the Cineteca Italiana in Milan, and Meg Labrum, the General Manager, Collections Branch, at the National Film and Sound Archive, Canberra, the article establishes the contextual nature of film archives in their response to this global pandemic. The article outlines a range of different responses to the lockdown situation. It argues that each archive is an agile institution, demonstrating institutional resilience and our collective capacity to care.
