In these extraordinary times, it’s more important than ever to be kind to yourself and make self-care a priority. Excessive stress can lead to an increase in a variety of health problems and depression, but self-care helps to sharpen mental and physical health, betters self-esteem, helps with stress management and leads to better wellbeing overall. Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Self-care is not self-indulgent. Self-care is not selfish. Here are a few ways to incorporate self-care into your daily life.

It's World Heart Day, and knowing your risk of a cardiac event is important, so let's talk about Calcium Scoring. A coronary CT calcium scan is a simple, non-invasive test that takes only a few seconds, and can detect calcium deposits in the arteries of the heart. It is one of the many risk factors your clinician uses to determine if you have an increased risk of a cardiac event. Candidates for Calcium Scoring can present without any symptoms and can include anyone between th...e ages of 40-79 with the following risk factors: Diabetes Family History of Heart Disease History of Smoking High Cholesterol (LDL levels of 70 to 189 mg/dL) Overweight High Stress Levels Congestive Heart Failure Patients who score a 0 on this exam are generally not in need of preventative therapies immediately (except for cigarette smokers, those with diabetes mellitus and those with a strong history of premature cardiovascular disease). If the score is 0, it is recommended that the patient continues with diet and exercise. Contact a center nearest you to schedule an appointment for a Calcium Scoring CT at www.rollingoaksradiology.com #RollingOaksRadiology #WorldHeartDay
