This Thursday at 8:30 a.m. we will be having a Coffee n' Connect at my office. This is a great opportunity to connect with your neighbors and other Oakland residents. We have a special guest, Dana King for Oakland City Council candidate for District 2. Dana will give us her vision of Oakland, and there will be a Q&A session for all participants. Yes, we will have coffee as well. Friends, family, and neighbors all encouraged to attend. Please RSVP by calling my office directly.

This morning, I've been reflecting on this past weekend - the dozens of participants who gave their time, energy, feet, hearts and poured them into fundraising and walking, all to assist people through their battle with cancer, and to find a cure so that fewer have to go through the battle. What strikes me the most about the past 3 days, is the fiercly positive spirit and attitude of the walkers and crew. These are people who NEVER give up, who keep fundraising, who keep persisting. In addition to the positive spirit, there is tremendous love - from every person, in very different ways. What an amazing group of possibilitarians. We are all MIGHTY!

The good in people truly shining through. Thank you to the gentleman that returned Tina's keys. All it takes is an extra moment of our time to truly change someone else's day. Thank you for sharing Tina!

I was just on the phone with a moto buddy who was recently in an accident. A car turned in front of him (not looking) and he walked away with only a broken ankle. A reminder for us riders - always wear your protective gear - without it, he might be in much worse shape or not here. For drivers - always look out for riders - we're out there on the road and we all have to be aware of each other.... Also, if you have State Farm for your motorcycle insurance, as of 8/1/14, we just added a provision to our policy which covers your protective gear (up to $3,000) when damaged in an accident. So, that $1,000 helmet that you have to replace - now covered as part of your collision coverage.
