Recent surveys carried out by graduate students of the American University of Armenia have documented that: The average five-year-old Armenia child has eight decayed, missing or filled primary teeth Between the ages of 14 and 17 years old, the average child continues to experience dental decay at the rate of one permanent tooth per year... Almost 90% of all 12-year-old children have cavities Only 20% of Armenia 18-year-olds still have all of their teeth This illustrates the severe levels of disease in this young population, and is more than double that of children in many other countries.
