As we close our observance of Global Volunteer Month, we give big thanks to Megan Dominici and her organization, The GIGG. Their consistent volunteer work brightens the days for Abode participants in Napa County! Thank you again, Megan, for all your many generous efforts!

It'll be our 16th annual breakfast fundraiser, but our first time holding it online. We’re so proud to announce that Rodney Seib, member of Abode’s Napa Outreach Team, has received the 2020 NEWS Peace Award! Napa News - Domestic Violence & Sexual Abuse Services was founded in 1981 to help Napa County women and children who are fleeing abuse at home. The group has given Rodney its inaugural award for being an unsung hero to victims of domestic violence in Napa for over two decades. Congratulations, Rodney!

Even with remote instruction opening the school year, our Napa students still need school supplies. Two wonderful groups have stepped up to make sure the children of families experiencing homelessness in Napa have backpacks and all the supplies they need to carry them through the school year. Many thanks to Kindness Kids (in partnership with Children's Museum of Napa Valley) and First Presbyterian Church in Napa for this generous and heartfelt donation.

While restaurateurs are suffering from COVID-19-related closures and decreased business, we’d like to thank one for stepping up to feed those in need. Mick Salyer of ZuZu restaurant is offering his take-out customers the opportunity to "Donate a Paella" to the shelter, allowing him to provide meals of his famous Spanish paella about once a week. Feeding people is about more than food, and in this time of stress and social distancing, it’s even more important to reach our most vulnerable neighbors. Many thanks to Mick Salyer and ZuZu for helping our Napa County participants through the gift of a delicious daily meal!

While restaurants are suffering from COVID19-related closures, some Napa restaurateurs have fed homeless people a hot lunch each day to help in this stressful time. Ken Frank of La Toque restaurant, who's been sending a meal to the South Napa Shelter once a month for some time, is leading the effort. He has re-opened his kitchen to prepare meals for our South Napa Shelter by using free and donated ingredients, supplemented with funds raised for the shelter food program. Frank has also reached out on social media for donations to Abode Services Napa, collecting over $5000 in just 2 days, all to be spent on food and packaging for the shelter meals. Many thanks to La Toque for caring for our homeless participants through the gift of a delicious daily meal!
