Grafting can be done for many purposes and in many different ways. In this case im trying to speed up my success with a cutting I for some reason can't get to root "Asunta 4" .....nothing wrong with it, but the cutting has enough mass so its no loss whatsoever to take a slice off, and put it on another root base to potentially get a faster start and then have two Asunta 4's. This is a "Thorn graft" and all you need is 1 in tact spike aeriole to fuse and the scion will grow ...into a full cactus. Yeah, my grafts are often hack-jobs, I just use a paring knife and some scotch tape mostly of the time, but the funny thing is most of them take. Cloning a Fig Tree Part 2. My good friend and agricultural enthusiast @suburbandragongarden helped me get 4 good cuts to try and propegate off this mystery variety Fig tree. This is the biggest 1 and I stuck it right in the ground. Others were potted. What does "sustainable living" mean to you? To me it is finding as much renewable resource as possible and making the best use of it. Efficiency if you will in as many things as possible. A person's physical practice and development needs to be sustaining and renewable to nurture growth and promote longevity. Similarly, that practice can be applied to edible resources. When you figure out how nature works you realize that there is so much one can do to nurture the process ...and aid in reproduction. A little bit of effort can go a long way, producing an abundance of goods for friends and family, and even replicating the trees themselves can speed up what would take growing from seed many more years. If we don't put in effort to maintain and sustain then we eventually fall behind, or worse leave ourselves more vulnerable in times of hardship.
