Frances Ellen Watkins Harper Despite her race, sex, and age, Watkins became a well-known poet throughout the United States in her time. She lectured and wrote about the struggles of African Americans and women, contributing to the Underground Railroad, several Black newspapers, and any abolitionist or women's rights movement that crossed her path. Her poems continue to resonate over 150 years later. #5050leadership #womenleadership #womensupportingwomen #equity #equality #womensrights #breakingtheglassceiling #womenempowerment #feminism #equalityforall #womenempoweringwomen #diversityandinclusion #womeninleadership #womenyoushouldknow

As an enslaved youth, Harriet Tubman sustained injuries that gave her seizures, migraines and narcoleptic episodes for the rest of her life. Despite this, she dedicated her life to saving others from the same abuse. Tubman guided more than 300 people across the Underground Railroad, led the Union army on a military raid that freed over 700 slaves, and spent her later life fighting for Black Suffrage and taking care of impoverished former slaves. #5050leadership #womenleadership #equity #equality #equalityforall #womenyoushouldknow #blackhistorymonth

Edith Clarke became the first professional female Electrical Engineer in the US in 1922. It certainly was not an easy start. After becoming the first woman to earn an MS in Electrical Engineering from MIT, Edith had significant trouble finding work as an engineer. She started at General Electric as a supervisor of computers. Unable to deny her creative problem-solving skills, she invented an early version of the graphing calculator which significantly improved the speed of c...omputing. After some time of tolerating lower pay and lower professional status than her male colleagues, she took a leave of absence to teach at a women's college in Turkey. When she came back, GE offered her a salaried position as an Electrical Engineer in the Central Station Engineering Department. She soon earned fame in her field. Her research had a major impact on the stability of the modern-day power grid. She also played a role in designing the hydroelectric dams still being used to generate hydropower from the Hoover Dam to this day. In 1947, she became the first female professor of electrical engineering in the country at the University of Texas at Austin. She continued to earn many honors and many firsts in the field, eventually being posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. #STEM #womeninstem #femaleengineer #femaleengineers #engineering #womenintech #womeninengineering #ilooklikeanengineer #equality #engineeringgirls #womenempowerment #femalefirsts #womenyoushouldknow #equity #equality #equalityforall See more

Marie Curie was a Physicist and Chemist most commonly known for her groundbreaking discoveries in radioactivity. Did you know that she was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only woman to earn two? Not only that, but she is also the only person to win in two different scientific fields! In total she won five Nobel Prizes, discovering two chemical elements in the process.... During World War I, she developed mobile radiology equipment which allowed field hospitals to provide x-rays to wounded soldiers. Her legacy lives on at the Curie Institutes in Paris and Warsaw where major medical research is being conducted to this day. #womeninstem #engineering #engineer #engineersweek #engineerweek #eweek #womenengineers #womeninengineering #femaleengineer #engineeringstudent #engineeringstudents #stem #stemeducation

Meet Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, one of the lead scientists who worked on the Moderna vaccine. In a Washington Post article, her fourth-grade teacher recalls recognizing her talents and recommending her for advanced classes. Fortunately, recognition of her talents didn't stop there. Throughout high school and university, she earned her spot in various other programs and positions that led her to the National Institute of Health. Now, her hard work and infinite talent is getting the national recognition she deserves. Thank you so much for all of your efforts, on behalf of #5050leadership #womeninstem #ilooklikeascientist #equality #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #diversity #womenyoushouldknow #equity #breakingtheglassceiling #feminism #equalityforall #womenempoweringwomen #diversityandinclusion #vaccine

Happy new year! Of course, everyone is glad to see 2020 come to an end. Take some time today to consider the good that came out of it. Many of us rush through our lives so quickly that we miss out on everything happening around us. We live in a constant state of stress, to the point that some of us don't even realize we are stressed! Maybe you started gardening or cooking this year. Maybe you started a new job or finally went back to school like you always said you would. May...be you simply bonded with your daughter over her science project. Whatever it is, take a moment to appreciate everything you've accomplished and everything you've made it through this year. You survived 2020, and that in itself is enough to be grateful for. #happynewyear #2021 #wesurvived #wesurvived2020 #welcome2021 #grateful #gratitude #youarestrong #5050leadership #womenleadership #womensupportingwomen #femism #equity #newbeginnings

Your actions have a stronger effect on society than you believe. Normalize standing up for yourself. Normalize calling people out for bad behavior. Normalize demanding what you deserve. Because each time you do, it becomes a little bit easier for others. #5050leadership # womenleadership #womensupportingwomen #equity #equality #womensrights #breakingtheglassceiling #womenempowerment #feminism #equalityforall #womenempoweringwomen #diversityandinclusion #womeninleadership
