Happy almost election day! We are having a Zoom meeting tomorrow night at 7:30 as usual. You can consider it a break from watching the returns trickle in! Our speaker will be Ken Jacobsen from the SF Bay area. His topic is "Oncidium crispum group: History, Membership, and Culture". I expect it to be a very interesting talk. If you have photos for the plant forum and get them to me tonight (Monday), I'll try to include them. I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday. If you are not yet a member, but would like to visit, send me a note at [email protected] and I'll send you the link.
The OrquidaRio show is up and available for viewing! 23 members contributed photos for the show. Here is the link to view it: www.orquidario.org/EXPO_VIRTUAL_SET2020/index.htm Just follow the black arrows in the site. If you want to see the pictures, select Expositores, then Associacoes, then click on the logo of the society you want to visit. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger picture of each orchid. This is a beautiful show! I hope you enjoy it.
Have a nice weekend!

It's almost time to see each other again! I hope you have had a good September with lots of orchids in bloom. Our next Zoom meeting will be Tuesday, Oct 06 at 7:30pm. Our speaker will be Lou Jost, Director of the EcoMinga Foundation in Ecuador. He will be discussing their efforts to discover and protect new species in Ecuador. On Wednesday, Oct 07, we will have Culture Class at 7:30pm. Peter Tobias will give instruction on mounting orchids. As usual, we count on our mem...bers for another popular feature - the plant forum. Participation has been excellent and it is so nice to see all the beautiful flowers everyone has grown during the past month. If you want to be included, here is what I need. Send images of up to 4 orchids to [email protected] by this Sunday latest. Include the Name, Hybrid or Species, Parents if a hybrid, Country of Origin if a species, Where you grow it, and any Other Comments you'd like us to mention. We'll share your orchids at the meeting! To get you in the mood, here are few beauties I've been enjoying this month! It's purple Cattleya time. See you in October.
