Amber is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. In this interview, she talks about her abuse while she was a member of the Church of the Living Word and her hopes that by speaking up, she offers encouragement for other survivors to come forward.

Survivors of sexual abuse often fear calling out their perpetrators. However, speaking up can bring closure and hold abusers accountable for their heinous actions.
As we leave behind a trying 2020, may 2021 be the best yet to come. Happy New Year from The Zalkin Law Firm!
Irwin Zalkin was one of the lead trial lawyers and part of the trial team prepared to commence a 14 victim trial against the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles. We were proud to secure this global settlement on behalf of the survivors.
Joyous Kwanzaa to all our friends who celebrate. Wishing you all a happy, and healthy holiday.
Dr. Himeno was a child psychiatrist at Loma Linda University Medical Center during the 1770's and 80's. We have three brave survivors who have filed a lawsuit against Loma Linda to seek justice for the sexual abuse they suffered from Himeno during therapy sessions with him. We believe there are many more victims of Dr. Himeno who can now seek justice under California's new statute of limitations law, AB 218. Here is the news release we issued on this lawsuit.
Brave survivors stepped forward yesterday to seek justice for the abuse they suffered from their child psychiatrist when they were his young patients during the 1970's at Loma Linda Medical Center. One of the plaintiffs has the courage to tell his story of the abuse he suffered from Dr. Himeno in this video of the news conference announcing their lawsuit. https://youtu.be/zesvGFZ_R4c
Nine months ago we commissioned one of Alex Zalkin’s best friends, Rodrigue Benson, to paint RBG for our conference room. She presides over meetings and other events and reminds us of the mission of our firm to fight for justice for those who have been denied a voice and accountability for too long by powerful institutions who are more concerned about their reputation than the safety of children. RIP RBG.
We as a country are going through difficult and confusing times. While we may have different political views and are divided on important issues, the one thing we cannot and should not disagree on is that we as a united people shall never forget the attack on our country on September 11, 2001. Today, we must stop and remember those who perished, were injured or lost loved ones. We must also remember and show our endless gratitude to those who risked their lives to save and help others. This is who we are as a country. Let this memory guide us in how we deal with one another today. We at The Zalkin Law Firm wish all of you good health and stay safe.
More brave survivors of abuse step forward to file another lawsuit against the Living Word Fellowship Church. The Zalkin Law Firm is representing these survivors who are seeking justice for the abuse they suffered.
One of the by products of the COVID-19 pandemic we don’t hear enough about is the risk that abused children face because child welfare social workers are stuck at home trying to perform assessments by telephone instead of home visits. How dangerous is this for at risk children?
Good News! Governor Cuomo has signed legislation extending the Child Victims Act deadline to January 14, 2021 for claims by survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
This research only confirms our experience supporting survivors of abuse. The impacts of childhood sexual abuse are devastating and have recurring impacts throughout a survivors lifetime.
A message from a brave survivor of abuse at the Childrens Youth Theater - CYT. Childhood sexual abuse is a traumatic experience that leaves scars for years. Our thoughts and support go out to all victims of abuse at CYT. Let us know how we can help.
The Zalkin Law Firm urges Governor Cuomo to sign legislation into law that would extend New York’s Child Victims Act one more year to August 14, 2021. The current look back window giving older victims of child sexual abuse a new chance to pursue justice is set to expire August 14, 2020. An executive order previously signed by Governor Cuomo extending the January 14, 2020 deadline may not be legal. The new legislation would eliminate any doubt.
Join us in welcoming Daniel Varon to the Zalkin Law Firm. Daniel’s extensive experience as a trial attorney will be a real asset to our clients.
As a follow-up to Governor Cuomo’s announcement to extend the Child Victims Act, the New York legislature now needs to act. We will be following this closely as we continue to work with survivors who are seeking justice in the New York courts.
