Toured 3 colleges yesterday driving home from Lake Tahoe... UOP, UC Merced and Fresno State. No, there were no official tours available. Yes, campuses were completely empty and yes I still learned a lot and had a great time. GO visit schools (in a Covid safe way!) even if they are empty right now but do the following before you go: 1. Take a virtual tour online 2. Research a few majors at the college 3. Research what student life is like. Is it harder to gauge if a school is ...right for you if nobody is there? Yes it is. But you can still get a feel for the environment. UOP felt like an old east coast school right next to downtown Stockton. UC Merced is very modern and new in a rural location next to beautiful Yosemite Lake. And Fresno State has a sprawling campus with everything from big sports to winemaking majors. And of course I stopped afterwards at In n Out burger because that’s what you do when you’re in college or a college counselor.
