Special reservations no longer required in Yosemite! During these pictures today the temp was in the 60's and as high as 73 degrees F. Great temps for hiking!
NEWS: The day use pass for Yosemite is ending November 1, 2020.
Yosemite is set to re-open September 25th! Conditions have been great here in the campground (80's F in the day, cooler in the evenings, blue skies and stars at night). https://www.facebook.com//a.156902234358/3367344056647186/
Nice to get a little rain and wind today (September 18, 2020). This really cleared up the air. Here are some pictures from this evening. One -- a sunset over Coulterville -- and the rest right here in the campground.
FIRE UPDATE: Great news! The Moc fire which was near us has not grown for several days. As you can see by the picture below it was also only a tiny fraction of the size of several the previous fires in the area such as the Rim Fire, Detwiler Fire and Ferguson Fire. We were never evacuated and have had sunshine, blue skies and stars at night for several days now. Cal Fire is showing 60% containment though they always error on the side of caution (in case the wind comes... up, etc.). Thanks to the firefighters and support personnel for putting this one down in a timely manner! We're the little green X on the map. Best routes to here are Highway 132 from the west and Highway 120 from Yosemite. Other sections (i.e., below Groveland) of Hwy 120 may still be closed as a precaution and for cleanup. Hwy 49 to the North opened up today at 6pm. I drove through (where the fire was) shortly thereafter.
We've had awesome viewings of the Perseid Meteor shower -- from right here in the campground -- where we turn out street lights off. This year appears to be a great one to see. https://www.cnet.com//how-to-see-the-2020-perseid-meteor-/
