Happy New Year from Yosemite Renaissance!

Yosemite Renaissance 06.12.2020

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! We are making some changes to the Yosemite Renaissance 36 schedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The opening reception at the Yosemite Museum in February has been a tradition for 35 years, but the museum will not be open. We have decided to open the show at Yosemite Gateway Art Center in Oakhurst.... Yosemite Gateway Art Center is a great alternative. The galleries are beautiful. There is plentiful lodging in and around Oakhurst, and the Art Center is close to Wawona and the South Gate of Yosemite National Park. And The exhibit will open in March rather than February. Exhibit dates are March 19 through May 30, 2021. The reception and presentation of awards will be held on March 19th, from 5 to 8 pm. If the pandemic prevents us from holding a traditional reception, we have the ability and resources to host a virtual event instead. The show will travel on to Kings Art Center and Carnegie Arts Center, then to the Yosemite Museum in October. This change will allow our traveling exhibit partners to keep to the schedule from previous years, and will give us a far greater chance that the museum will be open to the public in the fall. Because of these changes, we are extending the deadline. The final deadline for YR36 is NOW January 31st 2021. We are moving ahead with determination and enthusiasm, and with the understanding that it has been a difficult year for everyone. Thank you all for your patience and support! Sincerely Jonathan W Bock, Director, Yosemite Renaissance Happy New Year!

One more sale from YR35, Esther Jacks, https://www.facebook.com/EEJacks oil painting nocturn... "No Chains." Sold at the last minute! Oh... OK True Confession. I always buy one piece from the exhibit. I bought it. I love her work and her enthusiasm, and most importantly for me, I have been there, in that moment, driving the cold, wet, dark roads in Yosemite, cars slipping and sliding around, taillights reflected in the roadway. Thank you EE Jacks. This one goes in my office!

Another last minute sale today as we begin packing up Yosemite Renaissance 35. Ceramic sculpture "Nurse Log II" by Stephen Ehlers sold to one of our best customers. "The forest knows about rebirth. New life grows on fallen trees one story deteriorating as another sees first light, reborn from what has been left behind."... COLETTE KAY "Dead trees are not a signal to an end of a forest, but are an important part of the cycle that gives new life to forest ecosystems. They are a legacy and represent reciprocity within the forest. From an ecological perspective, dead trees are the biological capital critical to the long-term health of the forest ecosystem. It may seem contradictory, but in many ways, the health of a forest should be measured more by its dead trees than live ones." STEPHEN EHLERS #yosemite #natureart #californiaart #forestry #ecology

Today is the final day of the Yosemite Renaissance 35 traveling exhibit. It has been a difficult year. Covid-19 has had a serious impact on tourism, the economy and the arts, particular for museums, galleries, exhibits and other art events. This has been compounded by statewide fires, particularly the Creek Fire, creating additional hardship. As the year draws to a close, we are still fighting the spread of the virus. We have suffered some setbacks, but progress has been made as well. We are looking forward to 2021, and a time when we can gather together safely again. #yosemitenationalpark #Yosemite #californiaartists #naturephotography #natureart #sierranevada
