Tuleyome and volunteers have spent many hours restoring the trail after last year's fire. Enjoy their work and have fun out there!
One more day to connect with Sacramento Area Council of Governments and share the places in your community that you want to get to by walking or wheeling. Highlighting these important places will help SACOG work with local cities and counties to connect the region by trails and prioritize future investments. Let them know by tomorrow, April 30 and enter the raffle for $50 Safeway gift cards. https://bit.ly/3rcVDTH
The off-leash dog park at Grasslands Regional Park will be closed on Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 28 for mowing and maintenance. Crews will be using a different mowing implement to target the foxtails. Thank you for your patience!
Foxtail is rampant all over the region, including at the Grasslands Trail and Dog Park. Please thoroughly check your dogs for foxtail upon leaving the park. The limited rainfall in the fall and early winter followed by several strong rain events in the early spring and recent high temperatures created the perfect conditions for foxtail. We are working with several specialists to develop long term strategies to address this. We thank you for your patience.

Cache Creek Regional Park Campground is closed for the season. We hope you'll consider camping with us in 2021 (global pandemic and wildfires not welcome).
Playgrounds at Dunnigan Community Park, Esparto Community Park, and Vernon Nichols Park are now open. As prescribed by the California Department of Public Health, park visitors must maintain social distancing and everyone two years or older needs to wear a mask. Please make sure to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before and after park visit and do not eat or drink in the playground. Capacity limits have been posted at these parks to allow for safe social distancing. Play it safe!
We are entering the last phase of construction at the Knights Landing Boat Launch and will then work with the permitting agencies to finalize all permits. We plan to open on or before October 30, as originally anticipated. Stay tuned!

Cache Creek Regional Park Lower Site, Valley Vista Regional Park, and several Putah Creek Fishing Access Sites were impacted by the recent LNU Lightning Complex fires. These sites are now open to the public, but please be cautious when visiting. Potential hazards in burned areas may include loose rocks, falling trees and limbs, and damaged trails/paths.
The Cache Creek Regional Park Campground will reopen on Thursday, September 10. All evacuation orders have been lifted. The last night to camp is Sunday, October 4. Reservations can be made online: https://camping.yolocounty.org/
Quick update on county parks impacted by the LNU Lightning Complex Fires. All parks north of Rumsey remain closed indefinitely. These include: Cache Creek Regional Park (Upper, Middle-Campground, and Lower Sites), Valley Vista Regional Park, and Camp Haswell. Of these sites, only Valley Vista Regional Park and Lower Site sustained significant vegetation burns. The Cache Creek Regional Park Campground will reopen only after the advisory evacuation order is lifted and our mai...ntenance crew can ensure everything is in working order. We will provide updates early next week. Several of the Putah Creek Fishing Access Sites also sustained significant fire damage. These sites will remain closed while we work with the appropriate agencies to assess all damage. Have a great weekend!

Due to the LNU Lightning Complex Fires, the Cache Creek Regional Park Campground and several other Yolo County parks will be CLOSED until further notice. Evacuation orders have been issued for much of western Yolo County. Additional park closures include: Cache Creek Upper Site, Cache Creek Lower Site, Valley Vista Regional Park, Camp Haswell, Vernon Nichols Park, and the Putah Creek Fishing Access Sites. We are pleased with the progress at the Knights Landing Boat Launch. The vault restroom has been installed and several improvements have been made to the parking lot and future park host area. The construction crew is preparing the site for in-water work, including ramp widening, installing rip rap along the bank, and installing the new dock. It’s unfortunate there are people out there determined to ruin our parks and your enjoyment of them. The new restrooms were tagged last night, Wednesday 7/29, by two young men. A screenshot of one of the suspects taken from video surveillance is attached. Please contact the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office dispatch line at (530) 666-8282 if you have information that may help.
Just a reminder that starting Monday, July 27 the Knights Landing Boat Launch will be closed to the public through October 30 to allow for in-water construction activities. If you're looking for other river access opportunities in Yolo County, the boat ramps at Elkhorn Regional Park and Clarksburg Boat Launch are open.
