One more day to connect with Sacramento Area Council of Governments and share the places in your community that you want to get to by walking or wheeling. Highlighting these important places will help SACOG work with local cities and counties to connect the region by trails and prioritize future investments. Let them know by tomorrow, April 30 and enter the raffle for $50 Safeway gift cards. https://bit.ly/3rcVDTH

The off-leash dog park at Grasslands Regional Park will be closed on Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 28 for mowing and maintenance. Crews will be using a different mowing implement to target the foxtails. Thank you for your patience!

Foxtail is rampant all over the region, including at the Grasslands Trail and Dog Park. Please thoroughly check your dogs for foxtail upon leaving the park. The limited rainfall in the fall and early winter followed by several strong rain events in the early spring and recent high temperatures created the perfect conditions for foxtail. We are working with several specialists to develop long term strategies to address this. We thank you for your patience.

Quick update on county parks impacted by the LNU Lightning Complex Fires. All parks north of Rumsey remain closed indefinitely. These include: Cache Creek Regional Park (Upper, Middle-Campground, and Lower Sites), Valley Vista Regional Park, and Camp Haswell. Of these sites, only Valley Vista Regional Park and Lower Site sustained significant vegetation burns. The Cache Creek Regional Park Campground will reopen only after the advisory evacuation order is lifted and our mai...ntenance crew can ensure everything is in working order. We will provide updates early next week. Several of the Putah Creek Fishing Access Sites also sustained significant fire damage. These sites will remain closed while we work with the appropriate agencies to assess all damage. Have a great weekend!

We are pleased with the progress at the Knights Landing Boat Launch. The vault restroom has been installed and several improvements have been made to the parking lot and future park host area. The construction crew is preparing the site for in-water work, including ramp widening, installing rip rap along the bank, and installing the new dock. It’s unfortunate there are people out there determined to ruin our parks and your enjoyment of them. The new restrooms were tagged last night, Wednesday 7/29, by two young men. A screenshot of one of the suspects taken from video surveillance is attached. Please contact the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office dispatch line at (530) 666-8282 if you have information that may help.

Just a reminder that starting Monday, July 27 the Knights Landing Boat Launch will be closed to the public through October 30 to allow for in-water construction activities. If you're looking for other river access opportunities in Yolo County, the boat ramps at Elkhorn Regional Park and Clarksburg Boat Launch are open.
