Check out our new listing. It provides a rare opportunity to develop the largest single family zoned lot on the Venice Canals. Not only that but due to the bend of Grand Canal the potential views from the second story and up -looking down the longest Canal with it's signature white pedestrian bridges and the Santa Monica Mountains as the backdrop -will be the envy of your friends and neighbors. It has the potential to be one of the best rooftop decks on the Canals if not in all Venice. The 44% larger Canal lot will allow for even a pool. The only limit is one's imagination.
COMING SOON! Be the first to see this stunning Charles Ward in the heart of Venice. Only steps from the beach and Abbot Kinney
Before Venice was "Venice"... an indigenous map of the LA basin, including the local Tongva settlement:
From the Venice Heritage Museum: Happy 115th Birthday to Venice! Venice was officially opened to the public on July 4th, 1905. Swipe to follow along for a ...little early history From the start, Venice set the bar high as far as entertainment was concerned. Abbot Kinney implemented the early and bold use of electric lights across the city and at great expense (Pic 1). Remember kerosene lamps were the typical lights of the day! But Kinney embraced the concept of public illumination early on. A crowd said to be 40,000 people strong showed up for opening day thanks to a great publicity campaign (Pic 2). Windward Avenue (Pic 3) was decked out for every celebration, led ultimately by Venice's first official Town Decorator, and Black community leader, Arthur Reese. Fireworks on Venice Lake were a common occurrence (Pic 4). Camel rides could be taken on the Midway Plaisance, where differently-themed fun houses such as the Temple of Mirth could be visited (Pic 5). And all of this came to life thanks to the labor (Pic 6) of countless job-seeking new arrivals who came from Louisiana, Texas, and beyond, building out the city's famed canals and amusement structures, helping Venice to become one of the only beachside communities of color in the US Happy birthday to us, Venetians! @ Venice of America Images courtesy of the Venice Heritage / J.A.Schacht Collection.
Built in 1940 for a reported $4,500, it's on the market for a lot more today.
