https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qJazZozJOI This is an interview conducted by BuddhistDoor Global, a group in Hong Kong that promotes Buddhism. It is a discussion of Pure Land Buddhism. Master Zhi Sheng is apparently an Australian, that became a Pure Land Buddhist monk in China. It is mentioned that he was previously a "psychoanalyst". It is 20 min discussion but quite good. The "Chan brothers" that is mentioned few times refers to Zen Buddhists.

http://www.struveandlaporte.com//Salinas-California/1876999 Life story of Sachi Tanimura, repeated from Struve & Laporte website. Very well written obituary. She passed away on July 20, she was 91 years old. She was a long time member of the temple, a devoted Buddhist. Very famous for her cooking skills, the sweets she made were legendary. A life well-lived. We will miss her.

https://buddhism.redzambala.com//rennyo-his-life-and-work. On Sunday, we held a live-stream service honoring Rennyo Shonin, our 8th abbot (gomonshu) of Jodo Shinshu sect. This memorial service is normally held on May 14 in Japan, but here we do it on August. He lived till he was 85 years old, passed away in 1499. Rennyo had tremendous impact on our sect, growing it to a huge group under his missionary work. He had 5 wives through his life, 4 of them died before him. He had total of 27 children. He was very productive in many ways.

https://www.hongwanji.kyoto/en/ link to our head temple, Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto Japan. Introduction video is in Japanese, but it has English subtitles. Ours is called locally Onishi-san, literally means West-san. Hongwanji sect split into two in 1602 when "West" and "East" branches were established. The split occurred as a result of succession squabbles, and difference of opinion on temple policy, on political outlook. The West and East terminology comes from the fact that two main temples are near each other in Kyoto, one on the West side and the other on the East. They are short walking distance from each other.
