Rock Starshere is the 2021 staff who are making magic happen right now. They are an amazing group trained and ready. The return of summer camp!!! It is so great to have campers here enjoying the redwoods! Trevor, Nick, Morgan, Bryan, et al: here we go!!!
Ian Simpson, you worked your way to Food Service Manager and then moved on to bigger things. Your life on this planet ended way too soon! All of here at camp hope for eventual peace for all your friends and family who missed you instantly. Gun violence... time for change!
With all the morning fog we love seeing our banana slug friends roaming around camp. Can you spy the two banana slugs in the second shot?
Who is ready for a summer of fun? Summer Day Camp at the Y allows kids the space to grow stronger and more confident in a safe, nurturing environment. Registration is now open for our weekly day camp program starting June 14th. We hope you will join us. Register Here: https://www.ymcasv.org/ymca-camp-campbell/camps/day-camp
All this rain is great for the strawberry plants in our garden. One of the best parts of #camplife is seeing our garden grow and change, just like our campers! We can’t wait to welcome back overnight campers this summer and see how much you have grown since the last time we were together. Register here: https://www.ymcasv.org/ymca-camp-camp/camps/overnight-camps.
Campers are enjoying taking a break from online classes by checking out the critters in our creek.
We are excited to share that Family Camp and Resident Camp will be ready for online registrations starting the afternoon of Monday February 15th. You can learn more on our website: https://www.ymcasv.org/camp-campbell
We are happy to share our garden-just like us continues to grow and change. We are excited to see the first lettuce of 2021 growing and are excited to do the first taste in the coming weeks.
As we ring in this new year we at Camp are filled with gratitude towards the hundreds of families and children who have been a part of our camp legacy. One of our favorite ways for families to join our legacy is to purchase a brick and leave their mark on camp. Check out some of our favorites, we love seeing all the creative messages you come up with.
We are happy to share that Camp Campbell is back up and running after the evacuation orders were downgraded. The Camp property sustained very minimal impacts from the weather event. We appreciate all your well wishes and check ins on us.
Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year.
The Y Super Scholars Program at Camp Campbell and SLVE is closed due to the mandatory evacuations orders in our area. Will update as we learn more information. Stay safe and stay dry Santa Cruz Mountains Family and we look forward to seeing everyone after this most recent weather event.
Wow did the wind blow. We had some of our strongest winds in recent memory here at YMCA Camp Campbell. While some trees did fall as a result of the fires back in August and the winds yesterday our buildings remain standing and we are continuing with our academic support program.
For most of us, this has been a year unlike any we’ve experienced within our lifetime. We welcome the New Year with deep gratitude for the members and donors that helped to ensure that YMCA of Silicon Valley remains an anchor of support for our community. www.ymcasv.org/give
Wishing you a Wonderful Holiday from all of us at YMCA Camp Campbell.
While many things have changed in 2020 one thing that hasn’t is how hard our facilities department works. While many are unable to visit camp in person rest assured Camp is in good hands and we are prepping for the day we can be together again.
Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Our banana slug friends are loving all the fog and moisture in the air over the last few weeks.
Happy #flashbackfriday! We dig deep into our 1990s archive to find these gems from Family Camp. We hope they give you a chuckle.
Staff at our SLVE program had a great time supporting their first grade friends in their blanket fort reading day!
Did you know YMCA Camp Campbell has been running distance learning programs for local students since August? Our pods of 12 or fewer students participate in their daily classes in the morning followed by an afternoon of enrichment and fun in the Redwoods. You can learn more about this program: https://www.ymcasv.org/camp-campbell/child-care
Bay Area Members: Join the Y on Saturday for this amazing hike.
Happy Halloween from Camp Campbell! Wishing you a safe and fun holiday from campers in our distance learning program.
The weather has officially turned colder here at Camp Campbell. We want to say a big THANK YOU to our lifeguard team! They have worked so hard to ensure that all our pool visitors had a safe and fun experience. We look forward to re-opening the pool in the Spring.
This weekend we celebrated our Distinguished Service Award Winners and our Change Makers. YMCA Camp Campbell is proud to recognize Elizabeth Morris for her distinguished service, and Layna Layer for the changes she is making in her community. Our community has been strengthened by their actions and we appreciate our volunteers.
YMCA Camp Campbell is forever grateful for the out pouring of support. We have been able to return to Camp and start the process of clean up and planning our next steps. Our return to Camp was been humbling and emotional but overwhelmingly full of gratitude to all of the fire fighters, sheriffs, and first responders who fought to keep Camp and the SLV standing. The fire came within feet of our camp buildings, under our ropes course, surrounded Raggers Point, and unfortunately destroyed the Mole Hole. However, Camp still stands and will be here for many more youth and families in the upcoming years.
The YMCA Camp Campbell community has been outstanding. All of the messages, support, and kindness has been extraordinary during this challenging time. Many of you have been asking for an update- As of today, September 2 we are still under an evacuation order. Therefore no one has been able to get back to the camp yet. We anticipate this soon but know our fire department and utility services are still working hard in our area to make Camp and other parts of our community sa...fe for return. We look forward to getting home and back to give a full report on our treasured camp. Once we have more info we will share. Our hearts go out to all in our SLV community, especially those who have lost their homes. We are SLV Strong and Resilient like the Redwoods and we will be there to help our community return and rebuild.
We are humbled and grateful for these heroes. Willow, Brittney, Jacob, Andy, Matt- just a few of the Camp Campbell Alumni and Staff working directly to protect our entire community. Normally they are at camp training staff, cooking the best camp meals, or providing health care- but right now they are fighting this fire. Thank you. Please stay safe.
Thank you San Jose Fire Fighters! We are so honored to have your support and service right now. Stay safe!
Thankful for all the extraordinary firefighters and emergency personnel on the front lines fighting this wildfire!
UPDATE: Sunday August 23rd Our local firefighters (some are Camp Staff and Alumni) have reported Camp Campbell to still be standing. Thank you to every last person standing with us. We are so grateful for those on the ground fighting and working through these difficult conditions to keep us all safe. We will keep updating as we can.
August 21 9:00 am photo of Camp Campbell. Thank you Sheriff and Fire Departments for everything you are doing for our community right now. We are remaining hopeful for the days and weeks ahead.
Due to local wildfires, YMCA Camp Campbell is under a mandatory evacuation order. All activities, including community youth, fitness and aquatics programs are suspended until further notice.
Today is the last day of our summer 2020 Day Camp program. Thank you to all of our hardworking staff and wonderful campers who joined us this summer. We look forward to seeing many of you in our Fall Programs. Haven’t registered yet? There is still time to register for our Fall Learning in the Redwoods School Support Program, Family Cabin Rentals and Lap and Family Swim Sessions: https://www.ymcasv.org/camp-campbell
#flashbackfriday to summer 2012 at YMCA Camp Campbell. The same summer Call Me Maybe By Carly Rae Jepsen got stuck in our heads, who recognizes someone in one of these photos?
While this might be our strangest summer yet the happy faces of campers are still the best part! This summer day campers logged some serious steps on weekly hikes, played in the creek, and played the now favorite noddle tag.
