Today for our #CAWaterWeek Water Professional Spotlight, we are highlighting our Facility Maintenance Worker II, Alex! As I drive in early every morning, I see our light posts shimmering in the yard and I feel like a child, arriving at my neighborhood playground. The equipment is my towering rocket slide, half dome monkey bars, and spoils of dirt and sandboxes. There is a building full of playmates that I care about and who care for me. Every day is full of challenges and ne...w tasks, easy to solve and conquer when your voice is heard and ideas are put to use. I’ve been to many other playgrounds, but this one is by far the best. I have so many great teammates and together we accomplish great things. I leave the playground every afternoon sweaty, dirty, and smelling like a wet rag. But most importantly, my chin is raised high and I have a big smile, am filled with pride thanks to my teammates. It feels awesome to provide a service that sustains everyday life. Thank you to WVWD and my teammates. Life is good!" - Alex, 15 yrs. #WeAreCAWater #WorkForWater

Today for our #CAWaterWeek Water Professional Spotlight, we are highlighting our Utility Service Worker II, John! I love my career in water because I enjoy helping to provide quality drinking water to our customers. I see our customers every day and I feel that my interactions with them contribute to a positive impact on our industry and the District as we strive for excellence in customer service. The water system can be complex, but interesting at the same time, and I don’t think many people recognize the steps it takes to ensure quality water is accessible to them 24/7. That’s why I always look for the opportunity to provide great customer service and share my knowledge of the water system with customers." -John, 8 yrs. #WeAreCAWater #WorkForWater

Today for our #CAWaterWeek Water Professional Spotlight, we are highlighting our Director of Engineering & Planning, Sherry! Water is so important! Everyone needs it and will continue to need it way into the future. Mostly why I love my career in water is that I can use my gifts and abilities to help others on a daily basis. It’s so fun because no two days are ever the same. One day I might be performing calculations, reviewing design plans, or writing a report for a brand new facility, and the very next day I might be out in the field solving a construction problem as those facilities are being installed throughout the District." -Sherry, 20 yrs. #WeAreCAWater #WorkForWater

Today for our #CAWaterWeek Water Professional Spotlight, we are highlighting our Pump Operator I, Gabe! I love my career because every day I have the responsibility to provide our customers with safe drinking water. I do this by testing our water at reservoir sites and sample testing areas throughout the District multiple times a week and ensure good turnover on our reservoirs daily. I get immense satisfaction from running the SCADA system, which includes overseeing large am...ounts of imported water being pumped to different pressure zones and storage reservoirs. As for my co-workers, everyone is great! We spend more time with each other than we do our own families, which is why I consider many of them a part of my family. I will always be grateful for the opportunities WVWD has given me these past 15 years, in order to provide for my family. - Gabe, 15 yrs. #WeAreCAWater #WorkForWater
