Welcome our new Chief External Officer, Jon Potter! It is our pleasure to welcome Jon Potter (pronouns: he/him/his) to The San Diego LGBT Community Center Family, as the new Chief External Officer (CXO). Jon will join The Center’s senior leadership team and lead our development, volunteer services, Latino/a/x services, and immigration teams. Jon identifies as a gay Latino, and brings two decades of management experience to The Center, having served in executive leadership ...with organizations ranging from Bank of America, Nelnet, and The College Board, with a primary focus on supporting higher education students achieve their educational goals. He also provided development support to Huckleberry House, a community-based shelter for runaway and homeless teens in San Francisco. Jon moved back to San Diego in 2017 after having lived in San Francisco, where he was active with various San Francisco nonprofits including The San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and The AIDS Lifecycle. An avid cyclist, he has completed the cycling journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles several times raising thousands of dollars for HIV services. Jon was born and raised on the US/Mexico border in Calexico, CA., the son and grandson of Latino migrant workers. Through his experiences growing up in the Imperial Valley, he has valuable insight and tremendous passion assisting those seeking humanitarian relief and asylum. Please join us in welcoming Jon!
