The Doolittle Raid proved how a large airplane could take off from a carrier deck, namely the CV-8 Hornet in 1942. Aboard USS Ranger (CV-61), the 3d Forrestal supercarrier, and later again, aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), this feat was repeated. DID YOU KNOW?

Many classic movies featured model planes, ships, tanks and so on. Nowadays, most is getting CGI treatment. The main reason is that sometimes it is easier than having hundreds of models running all over the place. But regardless, it also meant an inspiration for future modelers to build their own pieces of history. How many nowadays still spend hours building kits? ... Dieter Leemans, one of our admins, has been at it for 30 years already... How about you?
