Glendale Opera Company 04.06.2021

Company Spotlight: Adam McCrory, Baritone Born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Mr. McCrory emigrated to the United States with his family as a teenager and has been a resident of Los Angeles ever since, performing in locations such as The Broad Stage, Royce Hall, and The Redlands Bowl. Following a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Musicology at UCLA, McCrory performed for a number of years with local opera companies and choirs while working in business... and marketing, eventually returning to education to focus on Music. In 2020 he completed an Associate’s Degree in Applied Music, Classical Voice at Santa Monica College (SMC) studying with Professor Dennis Parnell, and began a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Arts at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) studying with Professor Shigemi Matsumoto. Recent credits include The Broken Clock and The Black Cat in Ravel’s "L’Enfant et les sortilèges," Marco (cover Schicchi) in "Gianni Schicchi," Papageno in "The Magic Flute," plus numerous live and virtual concerts, as well as masterclasses with Anne Baltz of Operaworks and Rod Gilfry of USC. In Spring 2021, Adam was accepted into The Opera Buffs, an audition-based LA company that produces concerts with select local singers. Currently he is preparing various opera arias for livestream concerts with CSUN Opera and Glendale Opera Company, as well as working on a role study of the title character in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Beyond his opera work, Mr. McCrory is an active Choral and Musical Theatre performer, as well as a livestream concert producer. He has coordinated and produced nearly 30 concerts via Facebook Live for CSUN Opera and Vocal Arts, SMC Music programs, as well as private clients like voice studios and bands. As of April 2021, Adam began working with the SoCal Vocalist Relief Fund, a company run by local professional vocalists that produces online concerts to raise money for singers who have lost income due to COVID-19. Company Spotlight Originally from the NY stage, Natalie Salins has starred off-broadway in such roles as Antigone in Antigone; Hodel in Fiddler on the roof; Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar; and in the award winning show The Beastly Bombing here in LA. Natalie moved to Los Angeles after her short run as a recurring character on the daytime drama All my Children. And was just recently seen in the Hallmark Christmas move ‘Switched For Christmas’. Other television roles inc...lude : Heroes (Sylar’s mother, NBC); Criminal Minds(guest star, CBS) ‘The Ascent’ (Lifetime); 'Heatwave' (Regent Entertainment); 'The Believers' (Warner Bros); Hummer (Sundance Selection);; My Wife and Kids (costar, ABC). Natalie can also be seen on the opera stage. Favorite Roles include : Gilda in Rigoletto; Musetta in La Boheme; The Countess in The Marriage of Figaro Micaela in Carmen; Violetta in La Traviata; Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica; Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni; Liu in Turandot; Nedda in Pagliacci; and Gioconda in Puccini’s La Gioconda. Before receiving her BFA at New York University she won the prestigious award of Presidential Scholar; was given the title of most promising musical theater student in the country and sang at The Kennedy Center for Clinton/Gore. Company Spotlight Phil trained at the Mountview Conservatoire in London, UK and The Kogan Academy of Dramatic Art. Recent Credits include Il Postino at Opera Santa Barbara and The Mikado with the Pacific Opera Project. He played Ferrando in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera Company's production of Mozart's COSI FAN TUTTE and Sesto in GIULIO CESARE. He also appeared as Benvolio in Gounod's ROMEO & JULIET, Bobyl in THE SNOW MAIDEN by Rimsky-Korsakov., and as Don Ottavio i...n DON GIOVANNI all for The Independent Opera Company. Phil's first role in the US was in the Beatles Musical BACKBEAT at The Ahmanson Theatre. In the The UK he has appeared in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE at The Royal Opera House Linbury Studio, LA TRAVIATA for Opera Piccola at The Edinburgh International Festival, the West End Production of Sondheim's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC directed by Sir Trevor Nunn, and in the Cameron Mackintosh production of LES MISERABLES. Company Spotlight Soprano Sarah Salazar is known not only for her voice, but her zest for life. Salazar is an active performer throughout California and is recognized for her rich timbre, sparkling highs, and wide range. Salazar has sung with Opera Santa Barbara, Pacific Opera Project, Lyric Opera of Orange County, Valley Opera and Performing Arts, and is looking forward to singing with Glendale Opera Company once again. As a soloist she has performed with the San Fernand...o Symphony, LA Valley Winds, and has sung the National Anthem at numerous private and public events, including the Galaxay Team of LA. She currently is a Fox Singer with the Verdi Chorus of Santa Monica. Make sure to catch her singing April 11-25 at verdichorus.org. Not only is Salazar a prolific performer throughout California, she also specializes in working with preschool aged children. She currently teaches at a private school in the San Fernando Valley. In addition she teaches music privately and recently started an online music program for preschool aged children. Meet our exceptional accompanist, Yooki Kim. The winner of the CSUN concerto competition in 1994 and 2001, Yooki received her bachelor and master’s degree in piano performance from California State University - Northridge. She has appeared on various stages including the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Hungarian Embassy in NY and partook in a solo performance with the CSUN Symphony Orchestra. As an established accompanist, she has played for recitals as well as competitions and has worked as a staff pianist for numerous choirs.
