Did y'all see ONE Championship's fight cards?! The matchups are awesome & I’m so excited to watch!! The Golden Era was undoubtedly the peak of the art, but Muay Thai in Thailand has always been good since then. We consistently have good fighters, just not enough superstars to attract more true fight fans. As @samartpayakaroon expresses on Humans of Fighting, There’s no more true Muay Thai fans, just gamblers coming to gamble. No more art to watch. I think ONE Championship i...s reviving the Golden Era with their excellent marketing, treating the fighters right, and fostering a competitive environment for great fights! Fighters don’t need to worry about the pressure of losing the odds. They just focus on fighting & winning and have full autonomy in executing their game plan. They are insured w/ good pay and rewarded with lucrative contracts for performing well. So no longer do they dance around waiting for bets for the first 2 rounds. They show up, show heart, and fight hard every round! Let’s talk restoration of the soul of Muay Thai true fight fans are back! Thais & foreigners set their alarms for odd hours to root for their favorite fighters on livestream & engage in rowdy healthy virtual banter. Gambling will always be a part of Muay Thai just like any other sport, and I’m sure it’s present somewhere for these fights, just not in the arena. The 2 are now physically separated and the arena is now a place just to enjoy the fights. ONE creates opportunities for surprising matchups that wouldn’t happen anywhere else. They value heart and skill and give chances to the talented - no matter how old or young. COVID-19 halted our world, but it showed us the revival of the Golden Era. High level fighters filled ONE’s cards competing without interference! It was the fighter’s fight, their decisions, their win, their lose.
