#MrNorth Badges on the move!! The @nrdc_org needs our help more now than ever (for obvious reasons) % of the proceeds from this badge go to their foundation which I believe has the best team of lawyers, official, and ambassadors for our #palebluedot. Someone asked me the other day about my Mr. North that is always on my hat. They asked why he looked so sad. I told them, he feels helpless in his own ability to survive. That the outside forces that he cannot explain are drivi...ng him and everyone he knows to dehydration, starvation, and unsafe territory. She then starred at me, I couldn't tell if she thought I was crazy or if she just never thought about it before(because most pple don't) after a couple seconds she asked where she could get one and I traded mine for the donation. #spotlight on MrNorth badges and why people wear them. This is Jordan, an LA writer, fly fishermen, and lover of the national park system which he used to work for. "I think a lot of people think that the NDRC, and environmentalists in general, are a bunch of hippies out hugging trees and meditating next to waterfalls. And though I don't begrudge either of these activities, I think it's important to remember that fly-fishers, hunters, climbers, white water rafters, and many others, need these lands and waters protected so that we can continue to enjoy the biggest playground in the world. Jobs are important, but if you sacrifice the places that you go on your vacations - to take your family, have a beer with friends, and just get away from your full inbox - in the name of "job-creation" what's the point?"
