'Twas the night before #Christmas of the year #2020, which was full of pandemic and chaos and weirdness a-plenty. When along came a holiday that could bring great cheer, because the end of 2020 was finally near. All year long there arose such clatter, from #FaceMasks to Elections to #MurderHornets and #BlackLivesMatter. Each month crawled by as we worked from home, wearing #sweatpants more than the other clothes we owned. ... And so we came to #ChristmasEve, when throughout the world there was some reprieve- a time to be still, no matter how strange, and reflect on how 2020 brought us all great change. Whether we celebrate together or celebrate alone, whether we chose to travel or chose to #stayathome, we must take moments of silence for the families of 200,000+ others who lost one of their own. So on this Christmas Eve, we wish you all love and light. Cheers to 2021, and to all, a goodnight. See more

#Yule started on the #WinterSolstice two days ago, December 21st. We look to this season of the year as a time of grounding, celebrating, and acknowledging the coming of light. Candles, lights, and merriment all stem from Yule and the #Solstice as we rejoice in the coming of more and more hours of daylight. As #survivors of #trauma and #warriors of @recovery, there's a metaphor in Yule we can certainly relate to. We know, too well, periods of prolonged dar...kness...but we also know, increasingly, how it feels to realize more light is coming into our lives, more #healing is happening, and more #growth is taking place. When we gain #mentalwellness we learn how to live with the light and the dark, the good and the bad, and know that there is always a way to #heal. #Blessed ...actually. See more

Hard truth: Not keeping your word? Self-Abandonment Ugh. We don’t like to swallow that either it’s a tough one. But, it’s true. Whether we make an oath, a promise, a commitment, sign a contract, give a handshake our Word is our Bond and our Bond is paid up by our Actions. The equation is strange but simple. Not taking action on our word IS an action in itself, one that goes against our integrity. Going against our integrity is going against ourselves- even if that happens through a commitment to someone else. We have to show up for ourselves. We have to keep our word to our selves .

We often create #boundaries in response to someone else. When we get too focused on our boundaries for a person/relationship/situation, we forget that our boundaries BELONG to Us. Boundaries are OURS. They’re a form of #selfcare. They’re a #safetymeasure. They’re like a comfortable pair of shoes we choose to wear so our feet don’t hurt boundaries are the necessary tool we incorporate into our lives to make living #happier & #healthier. So if you find yourself getting tired or bitter that you have to have all these boundaries, remember: boundaries belong to YOU and you’re setting them for you

#ArtTherapy can be an incredibly releasing and healing tool for working with #mentalillness. What we can't say in words can be found in color, shape, and even just the movements of creating. We use what is tangible from the outside world to give life to what is going on in our inside world. As a result, we can find a level of expression that we can't find anywhere else. #artday #nationalartday #nationaldayofart #mentalhealth #mentalillness #mentalhealthtreatment #recovery #selfcare #trauma #traumarecovery #traumatreatment #ptsd #cptsd #anxiety #depression #ocd #bpd #did #hope #strength #inspiration #recoveryispossible #healing

But, he doesn't hit me. But, she doesn't yell at me all the time. But, it isn't always this bad. But, they can be really sweet. But, he said he wouldn't do it again.... But, maybe I deserve it. But, I knew it would make them mad. But, he was drunk. But, she was high. But, they've really changed. But, she said she would change. But, he said he was changing. But, things will change eventually. But, I can't. But, I don't know if I can. But, I’ve tried before and he got worse. But, I’m afraid she’ll kill me. But, I don't know how I would. But, I would if I could. ******************************************** Domestic Violence is real, it is scary, and it happens to men, women, transgender & nonbinary people. So often we find ourselves in limbo between words and tears-- we know the words, but we can't cry them. We can cry the feelings, but we can't put words to them. #Creativewriting or #journaling can be tremendous tools for our #recovery. Sometimes, as soon as we put "pen to paper", we find healing release through flow-- of tears, of words, of energy & more. Just getting all that "stuff" to go somewhere and make some kind of sense can feel... like a miracle. Maybe you can try writing something today :) See more

This #ocdawarenessweek , let's put an end to people without OCD saying "I'm so OCD." Who's with us? Yes, living with OCD can mean living with compulsive, ritualistic patterns like cleaning or checking things. But did you know that those behaviors come from scary, unrelenting, obsessive thoughts which say: "If you don't do this, then something really terrible is going to happen."... When OCD is severe, it can impair a person's ability to live a functional life because their rituals take over. Thankfully, treatment and therapy CAN help someone with OCD find healthy ways to partake in rituals, develop coping skills, and create healthy habits. So the next time you hear someone say "OMG, I am so OCD", let them know the reality of #mentalillness and spread the awareness of OCD! See more
