It’s been a long time since my wife and I’ve had a real vacation. When Covid hit, our business took a surprisingly odd turn, and took off. We’ve been non-stop at the shop and in our personal life since last April. Needless to say, we’re over due for a few days of R&R. Please expect a delay in us getting back to your emails (please don’t try and text us instead ). #mammothorbust #hegoesbynorm

We sourced fully custom hats, front to back, inside and out and finished them off with embroidery in-house for our friends at @thisiscactuscountry. From length and shape of brim, to custom stamped brass closure and sewn-in labels Cactus Country had a say. Shop these hats and more via their online tienda at thisiscactuscountry.com.

Today is Denim Day. We had the pleasure of printing some limited edition merch for our friends at @peaceovrviolnce. What is Denim Day? For the past 22 years, Peace Over Violence has run an inspiring and powerful opportunity to practice solidarity and support survivors by renewing our commitment to exposing harmful behaviors and attitudes surrounding sexual violence. Denim Day is a campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began ...after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it. Since then, what started as a local campaign to bring awareness to victim blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence has grown into a movement. As the longest running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history, Denim Day asks community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion statement by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. It’s been another hot week in our area. The shop never really gets below 90 degrees in the front printing area with our old ac unit, while the back embroidery area has a brand new one and stays pretty cool. If we leave screens drying out front for too long they get so hot we can’t even carry them. We got our business license for @super.number.one today, so we’ll officially be opening this Friday at noon. We’ve been working super hard on the new shop and can’t wait to have eve...ryone inside. Go Lakers! -Glen

The next two days at the press are set aside for @lakearrowheadbrewing. The owner Travis, used to own a print shop up in Lake Arrowhead. He taught us a lot about screen printing on an auto press since we were doing everything by hand at the time. His brewery opened this year right in the middle of all the Covid madness. Amazingly, the business has exploded and they’re having a hard time keeping up with demand. This shirt is printed with soft-hand discharge inks. It removes ...the dye of the shirt and replaces it with the color of the ink. Leaving it almost impossible to feel after wash. If you’re up in the local mountains make sure to stop by and grab some beers. Today started out with three different water leaks and a melted electrical cord. We had a shop visit by a photographer for a feature we’ll be in for @ccaliforniastyle in the near future. See ya tomorrow!

I’m making it a short day today. My brain has been working overtime for a few months now and needs a break. We’re slowly getting back to business as usual as the retail space starts to become ready for its official opening day. We’ve been looking at a new warehouse location to move production to. The major issue is there’s no gas line to the building. If anyone has a connection at So Cal Gas let us know. Other than that it’s perfect. Just needs a few massive AC units . ... We’re trying to address our situation with needing a sales assistant. Quoting is our biggest hurdle at the moment other than production deadlines. We try and be as responsive as possible, but we’re getting busy with other things and noticing it taking longer than they should on the sales side of things. Go Lakers! -Glen

I’ve remodeled retail stores almost 10 times since 2001. This one was the most time consuming, and back-breaking one of them all. Every square inch was touched multiple times. Everything attached to the walls was custom made. Every detail was extensively planned out by my wife and I. Thank God for dads and brothers that can fix and build anything. We’ll be officially open the first weekend of October. Come say hello! We’re located next to @laspalmasbrewing at 463 North Palm... Canyon, Palm Springs. Make sure to follow @super.number.one for updates. I posted a long stories feature in our highlights if you want to see the remodel process. -Glen See more

This is the latest I’ve been up in years (11pm). We did a secret soft opening test-run of @super.number.one tonight. For a few weeks I’ve been second guessing myself. Will anyone want a shirt with a Palm Springs mugshot of Robert Downey Jr on it? Will anyone get my stupid product ideas? Well, that seems to be put to rest. We had a great couple hours of sales. The feedback was great, and everyone seem super excited about the shop. We’ll be opening up next Friday, officially.... Come say hello if you’re in the area (463 N Palm Canyon, Palm Springs). -Glen See more

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for the opening of @super.number.one. We spent the whole day putting the final touches on everything. Come visit us next weekend if you’re in the area. Ended the day next door at @laspalmasbrewing with a pint and fresh pizzas. Have a great weekend everyone. Go @Lakers! -Glen

Started off today with a fast paced 30 mile ride. Home before 7:30am. We had the fire inspection at the new retail space at 9am which lasted a total of about 2 minutes. Got everything signed off super quick and should be able to open sometime next week. This has been a long time coming for us. We’re really trying to make ourselves our own largest client. Being able to design and produce everything in-house will be a huge benefit for our business. We hired @nicholasprints a fe...w weeks ago to come help run production at the shop and take some responsibilities off my shoulders. This week has been the first time since we started where I could walk away for an entire day and not be super stressed out. Not that our other staff isn’t capable, but everyone is always just so slammed with multiple tasks. Nicks goal is to make sure everything is coming in and going out perfectly. So stoked to have him. My day was spent on emails / quotes, while @eh_bee_see and @missittybittykitty (more praise on them in a later post) wrapped up everything at @super.number.one. We got our drinks and snacks delivered from @ladistributing and @idrinkvybes, and delivered the rest of the embroidered goods we’ve been working on at the shop. If you’re at @laspalmasbrewing this Saturday peak your head at our window for a little preview. -Glen

Today started out a bit stressful. We had a possible major issue with our press at the end of the day. Tech support was closed for the day, so we had to sit tight until we could get ahold of @workhorseproducts this morning. I won’t go in to detail, but I will say it’s nice having a brother working for us that can fix anything. Within an hour Bob had everything up and running. We wrapped up a bunch of reprints for @laspalmasbrewing. They’re officially open for to-go beers and... wine almost every day, and patio service with fresh pizzas Friday and Saturday. One of the owners, @rey_romero worked for me at our skate shop all through high school. I can’t say enough about his and his business partner Sam’s brewery. Our retail space is opening in a couple of weeks next door to them. We spent the second part of the day helping to merchandise the new shop. I was a bit worried we would t have enough products to fill it, but once we had everything unboxed we’re scared we’re going to run out of space on the shelves. Everything is looking so good. I can’t wait to share it with everyone. -Glen

Today wrapped up the last big project we had for @super.number.one. We’ve done a bunch of retail store remodels over the last 20 years, but this has by far been the longest, and most detailed of them all. On July 1st I was ripping out the carpet with a buddy, and prepping the space for a demo crew to come in to remove the drop t-bar ceiling and fluorescent lighting. My dad showed up to see how we were doing, looked around, and asked for a hammer. Two hours later he had the en...tire ceiling removed, saving us a few grand. Since that day he has been helping us work on the buildout. I feel so lucky to have parents that will do anything to help my wife and I, and our businesses. My mom was at our skate shop daily when that was running, and now my dad is pretty much our handyman and delivery person at the print shop. This week we start merchandise the shop for fire inspection. Wish us luck!

I’m trying a new thing out. For a while I’ve been disappointed with our social media presence. Photos of prints seem boring to me (most of the time). I prefer the story. Stories of the businesses and artists we printed for, the process of making the print, what our dog is doing around the shop, and general progress of the business. I’m going to try and do a daily journal post of what went on in and around the shop. These last few weeks have been super intense. We’ve seen bus...iness almost double since lockdown in March. We’ve hired multiple new employees, and reconfigured the shop to accommodate more packages coming in. On top of that, we’ve been remodeling a new retail space ( @super.number.one ) Downtown Palm Springs next to @laspalmasbrewing. Today started with contemplating moving our production facility. We’ve been in the same building since 2002, but the walls are literally falling in around us with garments waiting to be printed. It’s also rough running in to other staff with every turn. COVID has really made us aware of personal space, and it seems inevitable that a move is necessary. Today’s main focus was to try and wrap up embroidery production for our new retail space. We’ve put all embroidery work on the back burner as we try to focus on other clients jobs. We’re hoping to have everything wrapped up and ready for fire inspection next week. We also started printing posters for the new shop featuring art from @prescottmccarthy and @theonlymark. Wrapped up the day with some totes for the reopening of @laspalmasbrewing and wine bags for @deadoralivebar. We’ll be at the new retail space this weekend working on shelving. If you’re in the area pop your head in and say hello. See more
