IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR VISITING https://www.cdcr.ca.gov/visitors/ Updated June 28, 2021... In-Person Scheduling Using Visitation Scheduling Application Update: Starting July 2, 2021 visitors may request in-person visits at institutions using CDCR’s Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA). CDCR will no longer accept visitation appointment requests through email, except for California Health Care Facility in Stockton. VSA allows approved visitors to easily schedule their own visits and receive instant confirmation of their request. The VSA scheduling window begins Friday, July 2 at 6 a.m. for a visit on July 9 and on Saturday, July 3 at 6 a.m. for a visit on July 10. Fire Camp Visitation and Scheduling Please note this change to VSA scheduling does not apply to conservation (fire) camps, which will continue to schedule video visitations through email. CDCR is currently in the final stages of developing medical and safety protocols for in-person visitation at fire camps. Conditions at conservation camps are fluid, particularly during fire season, and CDCR is carefully crafting a plan to ensure the safety and security of all those who live, work and visit the camps as well as the surrounding communities that they serve. As a reminder, only individuals who have already been approved as a visitor, as outlined in CDCR’s visiting polices, may make an appointment at institutions or conservation camps. Please see information below on scheduling, testing, and other visitation details. CDCR’s COVID-19 Tracker has been updated to include which phase each institution is in according to the Roadmap to Reopening: https://www.cdcr.ca.gov/covid19/population-status-tracking/ Please check the Facility Visiting Status page frequently for updates on the status of in-person visiting at each institution: https://visitorreservations.cdcr.ca.gov/VisitingStatus.aspx

Were you recently incarcerated or know someone who is incarcerated now? Tell us how COVID-19 affected you or your loved one in custody, by participating in a research study. Your story can help advocacy efforts. Take this quick anonymous survey at https://is.gd/covidinside Current public health efforts to address COVID-19 in carceral facilities have ignored the voices of those trapped with COVID-19 while incarcerated. We have developed a survey in partnership with formerly in...carcerated people to give voice to those who are incarcerated during the pandemic. Through this survey, we hope to gather information that can help community activists, public health professionals, and medical and law professionals advocate for the healthcare needs and rights of people who are incarcerated and support decarceration efforts. Most importantly, we hope that this survey can bring to light the inhumane conditions incarcerated people are facing. The online anonymous survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete. We are asking people who have recently been incarcerated, or those who have communicated with someone who is currently incarcerated, to share with us the conditions in carceral facilities during COVID-19. Please feel free to share widely with those in your community.

URGENT ACTION: COVID Outbreak in CCWF COVID cases are rising rapidly at Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF) with over 500 people testing positive as of January 4. We are hearing from incarcerated people that conditions are rapidly deteriorating. CDCr staff continue to not wear masks and more and more people are being sent to filthy cells in Covid quarantine where they are unable to communicate with loved ones or report on conditions to the outside world. Further, Covid-positive people who are demanding better conditions are facing additional isolation and punishment. #StopCCWFOutbreak

The #StopSanQuentinOutbreak coalition is organizing a Townhall Saturday November 7th 2:00-3:30PM PT. Hear from organizers and community members about their direct experiences with reentry and why it's so important that CDCR and Governor Newsom grant #ReleasesNOTTransfers in response to the Von Staich Habeas ruling to reduce the San Quentin State Prison population by 50%. The California First Appellate District Court of Appeal ruled last week that CDCR and San Quentin State Pr...ison violated the 8th Amendment rights of all incarcerated people at San Quentin by subjecting them to cruel and unusual punishment during the COVID-19 outbreak. This CDCR failure resulted in nearly 30 deaths of incarcerated people and over 2,200 positive cases at San Quentin alone in one of the most catastrophic COVID-19 outbreaks in the nation. The only solution to a deadly pandemic during the age of mass incarceration and overcrowded prisons is mass releases now! WE TAKE CARE OF US. We are ready to receive our incarcerated loved ones and support their transitions back into community! Join us for this discussion as we raise funds for grassroots community reentry organizations. Join us Saturday November 7th 2:00-3:30PM PT on Zoom and FB Live. Register: bit.ly/releasesnottransfersnow FB Live: Ella Baker Center for Human Rights
