Happy Memorial Day Weekend!In honor of Memorial Day we should honor not only our Veterans but also the million plus horses that served them in war. This is Sergeant Reckless. This amazing horse served the US Marine Corps in the Korean War. Loyal, smart. and hard working, this little mare would take solo trips to deliver supplies and often bring back wounded. One day she made 51 solo trips to deliver supplies and carry wounded during the Battle for Outpost Vegas. She was wel...l loved and saved many lives. She was wounded twice but survived. She was aloud to wander freely throughout camp often sleeping in soldiers tents. She loved scrambled eggs and Coca-Cola. She was a true hero to these men and was promoted to Sergeant receiving two Purple Hearts and a Medal of Armor.
