Wild Rivers 16.11.2020

As the City reviews our design submittal, I thought I would start sharing some of the ride logos and our new Wild Rivers logo.

Wild Rivers 03.11.2020

We submitted our site design to the City of Irvine this week. We hope to have the design and environmental reviews completed and in front of the Planning Committee in September. This will let us break ground at the beginning of 2021 and open in May of 2022.

Wild Rivers' lease to be discussed by Great Park Board We are close! This Tuesday, April 28th, the Orange County Great Park (OCGP) Board will be considering the Form of Lease for Wild Rivers. The form of lease includes all the lease terms and authorizes the City Manager to execute the lease once Wild Rivers has completed the required regulatory and entitlement reviews. This is an important step! Normally we would ask our supporters to attend this meeting but, because of C...OVID-19 and in order to ensure public health, physical attendance is not permitted. So instead of attending, we would like three of our supporters to submit an e-comment expressing your support for the OCGP Board to approve the lease terms. Ideally, we would have at least a comment from a former employee, and one from a guest who remembers the park either from attending as a child, or as a parent who brought their children. If you’re willing to submit an e-comment, please message me and we can discuss. We only want to have 3-4 comments. We do not want to inundate the Board with endless statements that lengthen the meeting. The Staff Report recommends that the Board approve the lease terms and we do not expect any opposition.

WILD RIVERS UPDATE - Please don’t sign Recall Petition This has been a good holiday season for Wild Rivers. We are close to an agreement with the City on the financial terms of the lease. The City Council will be considering these terms later this month. Assuming that we reach an agreement then Council will then vote on form of lease in February. This is a significant hurdle because we already have finance terms negotiated so Wild Rivers would have to finish the environme...Continue reading

WILD RIVERS UPDATE- I few weeks ago the Navy informed us that they wanted to conduct more studies on our site and would not release the site to the City for us for at least another 18 months. Thankfully Mayor Shea stepped in and stepped up in finding us an alternative site. This will allow us to move forward and open the new Wild Rivers on time in May 2021!! This is not the first time the Mayor Shea has stepped in and showed her resolve in bringing back Wild Rivers. And it ...is not just Wild Rivers that has benefitted from her work; she also was the driving force in getting the veterans cemetery a site where they can actually build this long-discussed cemetery. Now pardon me as I get a little political but I am angry and frustrated. This cemetery thing going on is just ridiculous. Measure B passed in last election but its backers flat out lied about what the measure actually did. They are back now still pushing for the cemetery in the ARDA site saying that it is the best way to get the cemetery but it is really just a lie. The ARDA site is the most unlikely place for the cemetery. It will cost much more (40+ million more) and take much longer to build if the funding ever came. It is thought that this is just a vendetta by former Mayor Agran against Mayor Shea. Now these same folks that are trying to stop the cemetery are starting a recall effort against Mayor Shea and Council Member Carroll. This recall effort is nonsensical because both Shea and Carroll are up for re-election this November anyway. As you all know we have been at this a long time and during that time I have met almost all the Council Members and I can tell you the Mayor Shea cares a lot about the City and has worked tirelessly for Wild Rivers as well as others. Just so everyone knows I do not have a dog in the cemetery fight. I was not in the military and my father who was in the Navy in WWII will be cremated and his ashes spread. I do feel that these heroes who fought so we can be free deserve a burial ground and to use the cemetery as a pawn in a vendetta is outrageous!! If they really believed in their cause they would not have to lie to the voters to get their signatures. Please, if you see these petitions, either for the recall or to move the cemetery back to the ARDA site, please do not sign them! Lastly I want to thank the Mayor for keeping the Wild Rivers dream alive!! Thank you Christina!

Yesterday the Great Park Board voted to enter into negotiations to have Wild Rivers build and operate a new Waterpark in the Great Park. This is a big step toward the opening of a new Wild Rivers that will exceed expectations!!! Not sure when we will be open again but I know the majority of the City Council as well as our team will move as fast as possible to bring back Wild Rivers! This was a team effort and we want to thank the Council for approving this as well as all the folks who supported us on this adventure to relocate Wild Rivers. Again humbled.

It is always humbling to see the kind of love and support we receive from our former staff and guests! It is important that we show the Great Park Board that Wild Rivers has the support of the community. We know that the meetin time makes it difficult to attend but having a supportive group in the audience will show the Board how the community feels about Wild Rivers. Please do what you can to attend tomorrow's meeting! Tuesday, April 25 @ 2pm Irvine City Hall City Council... Chambers One Civic Center Plaza Irvine, CA 92606 Thank you for your continued support in bringing back Wild Rivers Waterpark!

ATTN: We are coming down to the wire. The Great Park Board is going to discuss the waterpark and who is going to develop it. This could go well and it could go poorly. Please come to Irvine City Hall on Tuesday April 25 at 2:00pm to show your support for Wild Rivers. We are only looking for 4 or 5 speakers so if you would like to speak to the Council please email us at [email protected]. This could be the day that the Great Park Board decided that Wild Rivers is going to come back!!
