Nom nom...been catching swarms wrong this whole time!
Happy Birthday Momma! Wrangling with her favorite son
Arguably the best part of what we do, scooping bees!
HA! This is amusing! They moved right into the shop vac! logged over 3000 removals all done by hand and I can count in one hand the number of times a vacuum might have been more convenient...for me, but there is zero upside for a bee being sucked up so I still don't entertain the thought. Imagine this visual: how would you like being sucked into a ridged tunnel at the equivalent of 60-70 miles per hour to be slammed into a wall and scrambled with 20,000 other humans in a bucket. Answer should be a resounding no...so why is it ok to suck bees up?
Hello from the peanut gallery! Oodles of queen cells! I absolutely love the color on this open air hive.
Picture perfect little colony! 3 ish weeks old in a soffit.
Shout-out to the coolest @duano_dude I know! Thank you for having your bees saved...again! (Different spot for the official Facebook record) Looks like he wedged a raisin nut bread loaf up into his eve Oh! blue pollen pants!
That's one way to do it. The bees built under the roof tile!
Into the abyss! Bees in a compost bin. Almost feel cheated I didn't need a ladder or hang off of anything...almost!
It's mind-blowing to me how quickly the bees build! This is one is a week old that we pulled out of a stucco wall! One week! For reference, about the size of a pineapple.
I love seeing honeycomb like this with the colors that blend seamlessly. The older comb (dark brown) being in the middle and new pearly white at the top.
I've exceeded my quota for sketchy #donttellmom roof bee rescues for the year! Ironically got accused of making it look too easy. Aside from this happy brave gal and my other diehard wranglers, I don't think anyone reeeeally appreciates the skill and talent necessary to pull something like this off safely.
My office this afternoon! I love where bee rescue has taken me. I've met good wholesome people, been in and on nifty houses, and get to enjoy views like this while the silly bees take their sweet time packing their bags and checking their hair....and makeup...and checking their #bugsofinstagram feed. Seriously sometimes these smaller ones take forever!
