We are excited to report that the pregnant woman sleeping on the sidewalk came in today to get clothing for her newborn baby boy. She thought she was 6-7 months... pregnant. She looked 9 months. We actually thought we were going to deliver a baby that day our CEO and her met. With services from Riverside University Health System (RUHS) we were able to get her off the streets the same day. Two weeks later here the two are in our office at 24441 Sunnymead Blvd Moreno Valley Ca 92553 getting clothing. We have to say our CEO thought she was a male until she stood up and saw her belly. She looked 9 months and ready to give birth. On the streets women must dress like a man or risk being raped. When our CEO asked her if she wanted to come in and get some free breakfast? She did and she ate.. she was starved. After that she got dizzy and we had her lay down in back. Our building is set up for possible emergencies like this. We deal with a lot of abuse and domestic violence prevention She slept from 8am-4pm we had to wake her up for her to eat again. At 4pm Riverside University Health ( RUHS) System Peer Support Specialist came to pick her up for her motel voucher. Safe, warm bed for her and the Peer Support Specialist will check on her. He text our CEO not long ago and mom to be went missing. Our CEO called it. She had the baby. She was not 6 months. Our CEO honestly wasn’t sure if she was going to give birth the same day they met. Mom to be ate a lot and that eased our CEOs mind, but the lack of health care and her dizzy was a concern. We are glad all went well. It’s not easy to find emergency housing in one day. We truly are impressed by RUHS they take detailed care of their clients and the public. Back in December Our CEO helped a 14 year old rape victim give birth and walked her through it over the phone 3.5 hours. Mom to be refused to call 911 or her new Foster Parents they were at a Christmas party. Finally minutes before birth.. she called and had the baby at the entrance of the hospital. She was expecting boy. Our CEO named 200 boy names.. as mom had not picked a name yet. Little Josie fooled us. Healthy Girl. Mom was extremely happy and hopeful for their futures.
