Don't mind the picture, but with a new Professional Master Class group performing for casting directors and preparing to transition into the industry, this question has come up quite a bit. What really is a "working actor" and how is it different from/similar to a star? What does success look like for you?
Dancers welcome at the Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio! . Dancers have incredible discipline and the it factor to shine on stage. But often there can be a struggle to connect organically to their emotion. After all, different genres of competitive dance expect different tones and expressions. And the expression cannot reflect any of the internal or physical struggle when achieving such feats of strength and grace. Emotion can become a performative experience. . What’s unique abo...ut Meisner, is it works regardless of your experience level in any performance field. It simply helps you find you true internal impulses, your unique highs and lows, and makes them consistently accessible for performance. It is a technique that you can develop, and use when the role and the medium call for it. So a dancer interested in transitioning to on-camera work, can learn to act from a place of emotional freedom, while still benefiting from their physical control and serious work-ethic. Many dancers shine in my classes, and find freedom to be raw rather than perfect. . It’s not just dancers. I am often sent opera singers, athletes, and comedians who are attempting to transition into #Hollywood. All extremely talented, trained individuals who are experts in their field, but are all willing and ready to start from the bottom and build up their emotional identity. At the end of the journey, they discover how all their experiences worked together to create the one-in-a-million actor they become. . Regardless of age, regardless of how long you’ve worked in #la, and regardless of your primary (or initial) art form, it’s never too little or too late to develop yourself as an actor. .
