Hello Winter Flag Football and Basketball Parents, When we opened Winter Registration back in August, I had high hopes that we would finally clear the "Corona Hurdle" and have a Flag Football and Basketball Season this Winter. Unfortunately, the hurdle is even higher now.... A new wave of the pandemic has spread throughout the country, kids are still "schooling at home" and the CIF just announced that competitive sports won't open in December as planned. Thus, it's with deep regret that Way2Go! Sports is forced to cancel yet another season. I know many of you were anxious to get back on the football field and on the basketball court this Winter, but there are just too many "red flags" to start the season. As they say, "better safe than sorry". We simply have to stay on the sidelines until we get the "ALL CLEAR!" For those of you that made Pay Pal registration payments...Pay Pal was kind enough to refund all fees to Way2Go! Sports for the cancellation of our 2020 Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. That enabled us to give full refunds to everyone. However, PayPal's "act of kindness" has since expired....which means your Winter refund will be minus the $6.83 Pay Pal fee associated with each $225 registration. We will begin processing Pay Pal refunds this week. If you'd like to carry your Winter registration payment to the Spring (or a future season), please send me an email ASAP. So now we look ahead to our Spring Season and if all goes well, we'll be playing Basketball and Tee-Ball. Spring Registration should open mid-to-late November. Hello Parents, Our Winter Regular Registration ends in less than a month (October 30th). Unfortunately, we've yet to get the "green light" from the Boys & Girls Club to use their gym (they're waiting on the latest County guidelines)...and the City of Santa Clarita will be requesting Covid-Waivers for all players and parents that take part in activities on their multi-purpose fields.... So...what does all this mean? Well, our president pretty much spelled things out for us. The virus is still "alive and well" and at this point, I'm not sure we'll have a Winter Season in 2021--and this is after cancelling our Spring, Summer and Fall seasons this year. If you're planning on playing with us this Winter and have yet to register......I suggest you sign up....but don't make your registration payment until we know "we're a go." Hello Parents, As I'm sure you all know, Way2Go! Sports has been on quite a "vacation" as the Coronavirus forced us to cancel our 2020 Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. Well, we're ready for a "new beginning" in 2021....and it all starts with our Winter Season.... Coronavirus permitting, our ever-popular Flag Football is scheduled to make its return in January and we'll also tip-off another exciting Basketball season this Winter. Regular Registration for our 2021 Winter Season is now open via the www.way2gosports.com website and since we always have a huge Winter Registration (not to mention parents/kids are clamoring to get back on the field/court), we urge you to sign up early to secure your child's Winter roster spot. You'll also avoid the waiting list and the late fees that take effect on October 31st. Way2Go! Sports Flag Football (for boys and girls, ages 4-12) is scheduled to kickoff on Saturday, January 9th and Super Saturday will be February 27th. Winter Basketball (for boys and girls, ages 4-14) will tip-off on January 10th and the season ends on Championship Sunday, March 7th. All games will be played at the Boys & Girls Club Gym in Newhall. Hello Fall Basketball and Tee-Ball Parents, Just when we started to see a light at the end of the tunnel....it turned out to be the light of an onrushing train in the form of a new wave of the Coronavirus. Thus, it's with deep regret that Way2Go! Sports is forced to cancel yet another season.... When we cancelled our Summer Tee-Ball season, I made mention that Way2Go! Sports is unlike pro sports--like the NBA, MLB and the NFL--that are planning to play games "without fans". Unfortunately, a youth sports league can't function without "parents in the stands". Add the fact that I just got confirmation from the Boys & Girls Club that their gym won't be made available in the Fall and LA County has been reluctant to okay a Tee-Ball field....and that pretty much "sealed the deal". So.....we now look ahead to our Winter Season featuring Flag Football and Basketball. Winter Registration should open mid-to-late August.....so please keep an eye on the www.way2gosports.com website. We will be issuing Fall refunds over the next few weeks and if you have any questions, please contact us at (661) ALL-STAR (255-7827). Hello Basketball Parents, I just received the following email from the Boys & Girls Club and it sheds a "not so bright light" on our upcoming Fall season. ***********************************************... Hi everyone, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this time. Both of our Club sites are not open as of right now but are waiting to get the green light from the County of when we can be open. With that being said, once the club does open whether it is during the summer or Fall we will only allow the members and have a capacity & restrictions as many other places do. As of right now until Summer is over we will NOT allow any renters to come into the Club. I know most of you know this but I just wanted to make sure we are all aware. For the Fall we are unsure whether we will allow you guys to come back. I will definitely keep everyone updated. Thank you all. While we still live in a world of uncertainty....the Fall season is more than four months away...and we can only hope that life will be somewhat "back to normal" by then and our players can get back on the court and back on the diamond. We extended the registration period two weeks in hopes that the extra time would give us a clearer picture as to whether we'd be able to play...but it's now perfectly clear that we have to cancel....
