Warm Winters 13.11.2020

A wonderfully received distribution after a cold, wet storm. Hats, gloves, other warm items, new socks, and toiletries thanks to our Tahoe Regional Manager, Ally, and partnerships with Kirkwood Mountain Resort , Sierra-at-Tahoe, and recent drive and generosity of the Rescue Up n' Comin' 4-H Club.

Our Tahoe Regional Manager, Allyson, and a fellow Girl Scout volunteer, had a very successful first distribution of the season. Warm clothes, new socks, and toiletries went out to 50+ people. Thank you, Charlie, Karen, and Lucy for working with us at the Upper Room Dining Hall Placerville California. Thank you Sierra-at-Tahoe and Kirkwood Ski Resort for being our partners.

School is back in session and nights and mornings are quite cold in the Sierra Foothills, so our Sierra-at-Tahoe rep, Alexis, and our Kirkwood Ski Resort rep and Tahoe Regional Manager, Allyson, have formed a couple of new partnerships to help homeless, foster, and in-need youth stay warm. Thank you El Dorado County Office of Education's Family Services and El Dorado Union High School District's Student Services for your efforts. Warm Winters is excited to be partnering with you.

The air was brisk this morning, but this room was full of warmth. Our Tahoe Regional Manager, Ally, who was busy with a Chemistry Exam was represented by her Mom, a Warm Winters Board Member, at the annual El Dorado County Office of Education Community-based Organizations Breakfast. Every flier and business card was snatched up and more connections made to support El Dorado County through our efforts and partnerships with Sierra-at-Tahoe and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.

Our awesome volunteers from Girl Scout troops 30471 (Carondelet & College Park) 32261 (Sequoia & Pleasant Hill Middle), just picked up and sorted the final clothing donations from the clothing drive that our good friends at Diablo Chiropractic ran to help local unhoused community members! Clothing was delivered to the Concord Emergency Shelter. Thanks to all who donated to this drive again this year! #helpthehomeless www.warmwinters.org

And that's a wrap! Thanks, Heavenly Mountain and Vail Epic Promise for another great all-mountain clothing drive to help those in need. Our wonderful volunteers picked up the last of the donations and brought them to Live Violence Free and the Warm Room at South Lake Tahoe. Thanks for helping our local friends in need in South Lake Tahoe!

Thank you Kirkwood Mountain Resort and Vail Epic Promise Grant for supporting another annual Warm Winters clothing drive during the season. Our rep picked up the last load of donations this past weekend and it was such a beautiful bluebird weekend she sorted them slopeside before taking them home to be washed and re-distributed in her community to those in need.

Such a pleasure for our board member, Laurie, to meet with Amy at Northstar California Resort, who leads our Resort-wide donation program at Northstar, collecting warm clothing for our local homeless friends at the Warm Room in Truckee, CA. Thank you, Amy, for all of your hard work! And thanks to Vail Epic Promise for funding this drive.

The Sierra foothills have not seen this much on-going rain, snow, and cold for long while, so our Tahoe Regional Manager and fellow Girl Scout troopmates were a welcome sight yesterday with lots of warm clothing and toiletries. Thanks to the Lost and Found program with Kirkwood Mountain Resort generosity of the Arbonne Charitable Foundation, and Henrietta Aigner & Joy Baldwin Family Foundation.

The weather outside has been frightful, but this load of kids' jackets, pants, and accessories delivered to the El Dorado Community Health Center by our Warm Winters Tahoe Regional Manager will keep many warm. Thank you Kirkwood Mountain Resort for your support!
