APPRECIATION POST: We are so incredibly lucky to have our VUSD Technology Department and Google Coordinators. They always go above and beyond for every single e...mployee and student that crosses their path. At the start of this pandemic, this team went into overdrive to ensure every VUSD student had access to a Chromebook. They collected, disinfected, and reconfigured more than 10,000 laptops for students. Our Google Coordinators woke up early and stayed up late to create multipart training videos for parents and teachers. At the board meeting last night, we showed a little appreciation for these hardworking folks. #schoolsclosedheartsopen #vusdfamily See more

If you have any friends, relatives or even acquaintances in education check on them. This year I am starting my 15th year in education and it feels like my fir...st year all over. This is not a sympathy post just a reality post. Our world has turned upside down and things change EVERY second. Once something is figured out, another thing changes. As an assistant principal at a high school, working long hours and over weekends and missing family time is normal, but working from the moment I get up until I go to bed is not normal. This is every day all week, with emails and calls and follow up and the never ending to do lists. Educators are working at breakneck speed to be ready for the first day of distance learning because we know the world will be watching especially the critics. Yes, the school building is closed. However, many of us have not stopped working because we want to make sure when we see OUR students again online or in person that they are going to receive our BEST even from afar and we are going to strive to support our families during this pandemic the best we can. Check on your educator friends they could use a positive affirmation right now. To the world, please show us grace as we embark on this historical journey in education. To the educators, we’ve got this!
