Voluntary Legal Services Program

Several months ago, the name of the Voluntary Legal Services Program changed to Capital Pro Bono. We will be closing this Facebook page and we encourage everyone to go like our new Facebook page at Capital Pro Bono. For more information about our free legal services to those with low incomes, please also check out our new website at CapitalPro Bono.org. We are grateful to the Sacramento area community for their support for the last 39 years as VLSP. We're looking forward to a long future serving those same community needs as Capital Pro Bono!

Please share! This week is the American Bar Association's "Celebrate Pro Bono Week", honoring the volunteers who provide free legal help to those who need it most. We're excited to celebrate this week with the launching of our new website and Facebook page. Many thanks to all our volunteers and supporters---we couldn't do it without you!

Vicki Jacobs, our Managing Attorney, is pleased to announce that Assistant Program Manager Heather Tiffee assumed the Managing Attorney position at VLSP/Capital Pro Bono on September 1, 2020. Vicki will remain part-time with our program and will be focusing on outreach and fundraising tasks. Heather has been with us since law school in 2001 and we are excited for her promotion!

We are excited about the changes that are happening at the Voluntary Legal Services Program. We are now located in the Arden Arcade area of Sacramento---our office is no longer downtown. Free parking for all! We are also changing our name to Capital Pro Bono, as people know what a pro bono attorney is, but have been confused by what "Voluntary Legal Services" means. Look soon for a new logo, website and Facebook page, which you all will be invited to join.

VLSP just started this Facebook page and we're grateful for all those who have liked our page. We will be updating everyone on our free legal services for the indigent, including volunteer opportunities for legal professionals, especially as we all negotiate through the ramifications of COVID 19 in our lives. At the Voluntary Legal Services Program, our staff and volunteers are already assisting our clients with COVID-19-related issues in employment, family and debt/bankruptcy law.
